Description

A premium floor and wall dry-set mortar with outstanding bond strength. Designed for interior and exterior floor and wall installations of vitreous, semi-vitreous and non-vitreous ceramic tiles, ceramic mosaics, quarry tiles, pavers, and natural stone tiles. This special blend of Portland cement, select inert fillers and advanced chemical additives results in a mortar with excellent sag resistance and adjustability. For installation in freeze/thaw environments or with special substrates. Meets ANSI A118.1 requirements. 22.7 kg.

Can I use this to install natural stone veneer over drywall?

As this is an unmodified mortar, the vendor does not recommend it be used over gypsum, unless a polymer additive is used, i.e. Keralastic.

Hello. Can it be used for installation of ceramic tiles directly on plywood floor?

I chose Kerabond based on the online recommendation for my tiling project over ditra over basement floor which requires un-modified thinset. It's a great product under and over ditra. Mixing is easy and smooth with a 1/2" cheap drill. Very satisfied. My only complain is that no Lowes store nearby keep Kerabond in stock. Ditra appears taking more thinset than normal. My first order (10 bags) are far from enough, so I have to halt my work and order another 5 bags. I've to wait for at least two weeks (either delivery or in-store pickup). There is no other quality un-modified thinset to use in Lowes or HD. It'll be much more convinient if people can pick it up any time in a store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RavenWoods from Easy to use with Schluter Kerdi Kerabond is easy to use, nice and smooth, and well regarded for being a premium unmodified thinset. I am using it to apply Schluter Kerdi at the moment and will lay tiles with it on Schluter Ditra. When you search for it on the Lowes website they have neglected to include the word Kerabond as a keyword. So you have to search using the company name Mapei, or possibly just thinset. Another complaint I have it that I have to special order it as they do not stock it in the local store. I purchased two bags and they came in well packaged in a box. Each bag was in a tough plastic bag. The Kerabond bag itself is also a tough plastic. So the product is not in one of those cheap paper bags that portland cement comes in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BP Renovations from Great Product I used Kerabond for installing a Kerdi shower system. A rep from Schluter actually recommended this product for Kerdi. It is expensive, but if you are paying high dollar for a Kerdi shower, you should use a high quality mortar like this.

I was doing my project alone, and mixing this much mortar to use in the two-hour time frame frame is insane! I purchased what my product called for, but it really would be helpful to have measuring units included for the DIYer.
