7 1/4-in Electrical Circular Saw is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw for the Price Range Bought this as a replacement for another brand of circular saw. This was slightly more expensive but worth the extra money. It is very easy to control, cuts true and quieter than my previous saw. I di read some review about their saw(s) not cutting correctly but I did not experience that. I haven't used it enough to give a durability rating. The reason for not giving an excellent mark on the features and value is that I would like a hard case in this price range and a rip fence.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't cut 90 degrees I bought this Bosch yesterday because the shoe on my cheap Craftsman saw bent. I expected to have to "fine tune" the cut angle on a new saw, but what I didn't expect was that it won't cut 90 degrees no matter what! The shoe of the Bosch hits the motor housing before it reaches 90. I love the features of the saw, but if it won't cut true then it's useless to me or anyone else unless you don't care about accuracy. I even tried loosening the screws where the shoe attaches to the actual saw body, but there wasn't enough play to get me any clearance. I may try another one, just to see if it was a fluke, but come on now, shouldn't you be able to expect a brand new anything to do what it's supposed to do?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Complete review I have a number of other Bosh tools and have been happy with them so for the price I gave this one a go. What I liked was the quick stops on the depth setting. This is also a problem though because when you want to fine tune the depth the saw falls into the preset depth locations. That was a pain. I read about how other people had trouble getting a straight cut. It took me a little time to get use to this but I was able to cut straight with it. I cut a lot of wood before writing this review. For the money (on sale) I would buy it again. It is a heavy saw so if you need to cut up in the rafters that maybe a show stopper for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Darn Good Saw This Bosch Saw is quite good but probably not the best you can buy, but for the money it is a good choice. The saw is of good design, has no foolish "safety" trigger, plenty of power, and is of seemingly good quality. It should have a quick blade release and come with the extra guide tools; hey Bosch!!!. The carry bag is better than a hard case, in my opinion. I'm somewhat of a fan of Bosch. It has a 56 degree bevel cut, an extra hook for hanging (of questionable value), and a long cord. A good buy at a hundred bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from only pro`s need this saw on a framing job , my nickname was SUPER-STEVE because i sawed , toted my own lumber , and kept one , sometimes 2 full framing crews hopping , if working side by side, and we didnt build truss roofs...all stick framed . i used this saw on the job every day for 15 years or so without incident... {im semi-retired and run a charter fishing bus. now} the first feature that a pro will apreciate is the almost 60 degree bevel , much better and safer than putting a pencil or wedge between the table and wood to get a sharper bevel . second is the table assembly , not flimsy like a `kita , or them yeller saws...u drop one of them on its side and the table will never be 90 degrees to the blade again...not so with this one....3rd is the rafter hook , self expanitory....i love love love the spring loaded adjustments for the table , cant count how many times i had to stop work to take the `kita apart so it would lock down the table....i bought mine , like i said 15 yrs ago , they do rough carpentry and trim well , i cut trim , crown , even cut down 12 light bi-fold mahogony doors { not cheap } on the knob side using a straight edge...try that with a `kita thats been dropped a few times...mine had a male plug on the saw that u could plug any cord into...loved that , no more tying cords together or wrapping with tape or plastic in the rain... hope they havent done away with that feature...after 15 years of HAAARD use mine finally smoked the switch and melted the inside of the handle . plan on buying another one today without hesitation ....i said only pro`s need this saw , because only a pro will recognise and appreciate the features this saw has to offer . yes , its heavier , yes your forearms will feel it after cutting in a roof system , but if treated like a saw , not a hardee plank grinder or a firewood cutter , it will outlast ten `kitas or yeller ones...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good circular saw for beginners or professionals This was literally the first power saw I ever purchased and I still use it today. Bosch generally makes fine products, and this is no exception. Some details: Cons: I'll start with the criticism first. This saw is fairly heavy and it will probably take a bit of practice before you are making perfect straight cuts. Because this is a sidewinder, it is somewhat difficult to visualize where you are cutting without getting close. Side note: ALWAYS wear eye protection with any saw, but especially this one, as it has a tendency to throw splinters back at you, especially if you are making dados. Another thing to watch out for is that the blade guard makes a bit of a thump when it comes back to the motor, but mine is quite functional (one reviewer complained that his blade guards got stuck). Pros: If you are working on a ladder, there is a rafter hanger right on the handle to hang this tool in between cuts. In addition, there is a quick-and-dirty framing guide printed right on the motor. Also, as a 15-amp saw, this thing has a lot of power. The only time I've ever stalled it was when I was trying to cut through some wet firewood in a hurry (not recommended). I haven't done a lot of bevel cuts with this, but I will say the depth guide is fairly accurate. There are positive stops at 22.5, 30, and 45 degrees (and of course 90).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk this saw really isnt that good. i had a dewalt that i used for most of the jobs were i needed a circular saw. one job i was on a roof and it fell 2 stories and bent the bace plate so its not true. i went out and bought this saw and started using it. it sounds really weird when you pull the triger sounds really weak. its also really easy for the blade to stop with this saw. it feels like the motor is like a little 8 amp motor. it just dosnt have the power to cut efficently like the dewalt did. also the bace plate is really easy to mess up. the makings are off on my saw and dosnt cut stright along the. buying this saw makes me want to throwgh it in the dumpster and go buy a dewalt again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats the other big names by far Was tired of worrying about my makita being dropped from the roof and started looking around for a rafter hook to add to it. Could not find one and heck, I "needed" a new saw anyway. The Good: Whoever thinks this saw doesn't cut true 90 degree cuts is either biased, confused or possibly (slim chance) has a defective saw. Not only did this thing cut square right out of the box for me, after being dropped and slammed onto the subfloor by another worker I checked it and it held up flawlessly. Still cuts true. As for the review stating in all caps that the guard stays open...uh no. Guard works just fine and doesn't bind causing you to have to lift the guard in those first few inches of cutting like some other saws out there. Magnesium shoe and bevels for depth settings makes this saw literally glide through material. Lots of guys I see in my profession try to shove the saw through the material due to the shoes on other saws sticking. Not this one. Simply set the depth and go to town. Cord length is awesome and of course, my rafter hook is built into the thing. The Bad: Getting used to how smoothly this cuts through material caused me to "walk" my rips a little. After a few hours though I quickly figured it out and got back to cutting "right on the line". one minor (or major if I'm not wearing my shades) flaw/issue/thing I don't like, is that it does spit dust at you if you aren't directly behind it. While ripping some plywood during that time after lunch when the sun starts to shift and you get that shadow causing you to have to look over the saw a little differently...well this saw doesn't like it when you do that and lets you know by generously attempting to impale sawdust into your face. Overall, this thing is great. Lightweight, solidly built, accurately delivers. And only $100 bucks.
