Near the bottom there are what looks like two levels on shelf supports molded into side of freezer but they do not seem to be designed to accept the wire shelving. I would like to be able to use these lower shelf positions. What are they for?

Sorry - we have no idea what they are for. The current shelf positions work for us, so we just ignored those extra supports.

The product description says the door is not reversible; however, several reviewers refer to reversing the door. Can you please confirm which is accurate? Thank you.

Yes the door is reversible. There are two handles, which are indents in the side of the door, on both sides. There are the necessary pre-drilled holes on both sides. The door comes mounted with the hinges on the right side. However, all of the necessary attachment points are there to mount the door with the hinges on the left side.

The power cord is attached at the rear of the freezers approximately 8" up from the floor on the right side of the freezer when facing it. The power cord is 60" in length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrFreeze from Beats all of my expectations (1 month in) Not much choice for upright freezers out there and not too many places have display models to look at and this was no exception. Even though the website said that there was a display model at a specific location, we did not see it and had to still special order it in store. Our criteria was for a quiet, frost free, spacious model that fit in our basement's low height. After plugging in the first time, the unit did hum for a few minutes but after that nothing. I was very surprised how quiet it is ever time I walk by it that I even had to open the door to check that it was on. So far, after 1.5 months in, we are pretty happy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by All thawedout from Lasted One Year! When I ordered the freezer last year I was so amazed that the unit showed up as the vendor promised, to the day. That was pretty good as the unit had to come out of the USA to Canada. With Covid 19 already well ramped up I felt it was an excellent investment. Unfortunately, I opened the freezer this week only to find everything thawed out. I was taken aback as the majority of the owners rated Amana at a 5. And I sure did not expect and made in the USA product to quit around the anniversary date. When something is made in the USA we up north have come to expect the best in their products. Don't know what to say. I have recommended this product to many others but feel the lemon landed on my doorstep. It worked great up until recently.

It has far more room then the same size one I replaced. The door shelves hold so much then the old one. Was going to get a second freezer for the basement to keep bread in but have extra room with everything in it and things are so much easier to find. Also very quiet and does not run as often as others

Rated 4 out of 5 by Will in Canada from Good, Effective, Reasonably Priced Upright Freezer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this particular freezer for two reasons the relatively narrow dimensions (we were putting it into a fairly cramped space) and because the door had to open with the hinges on the left. Very few have reversible doors and most freezers have the hinges on the right. This freezer was rather large in volume (18 cu ft), nice and narrow (just over 30"), has reversible door, and was very reasonably priced. It's a little basic but it works well so far and suited our needs very well

We considered a chest freezer but after seeing so many reviewes of people who complained of having to bend down and search we opted for the standing unit. The light illuminates everything and has a rapid cool down feature to drop temps fast. There are lots of shelves to store either in the unit or back of the door. You can also change the position of the door if you prefer a left or right side opening. All and all its been great and no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Zenqi from Just right I was concerned that our old freezer was using a lot of energy so I bought a meter to measure KWH. The old freezer was using about 1400 KWHs per year which is about four times what it should! I bought the Amana freezer based upon the dimensions where it would fit in our garage, the interior features and energy consumption. It fit perfectly and I loaded all of the contents from the old freezer with room to spare. The last test was to plug it into the meter and see how much energy it would use. As of just now it has been on for 983 hours and has used 40.32 KWH of electricity. That means that in one year it will use approximately 359 KWH, well below what the Energy Guide estimate that was posted on the freezer! This freezer is using 25% of the power that the old one was and that is keeping our electricity bill from going into third tier usage, the most expensive tier. I'm very happy with this appliance and would recommend it to anyone.

We have an Amana refrigerator that is 13 years old and we have never had a problem with it so based on that we feel comfortable that the upright freezer will give us the same service. I wish there was a "door-not-closed" warning sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Raysum from Good so far We know Whirlpool makes most of the freezers. We had a LEMON whirlpool which lasted less than 2 yrs. High noise, many parts failed, compressor failed. We chucked it. The Amana runs smooth and infrequently and is troublefree thus far. A great improvement but made by the same conglomorate.
