Subfloor Air Plus Panel - Air Gap Technology - 23.5" x 23.5"

BARRICADE is the one-step engineered subfloor solution that is specifically designed for basements. BARRICADE Subfloor Air Plus is the first and most important step towards creating a new living space as warm and comfortable as any other space in your home. DRICORE Subfloor covers cold, damp concrete to protect and insulate your floor (R-Value of 1.4). BARRICADE Subfloor Air Plus softens finished floors to cushion against the hard concrete. Its sturdy confection supports over 6,600 pounds per square feet. Concrete continually releases moisture. BARRICADE Subfloor Air Plus panels have been designed with patented Air Gap technology that helps protect against moisture, mold and mildew to keep basement floors dry, comfortable and cozy throughout the entire year. BARRICADE Subfloor Air Plus panels promote good indoor air quality by allowing concrete to breathe, which in turn reduces the potential for mold and mildew. BARRICADE Subfloor Air Plus panels features tongue and groove design that snaps into place for fast and easy installation; a typical 500 square foot basement installs in an afternoon. Limited 25-year warranty for a stress-free purchase.

I am installing vinyl floor on very uneven concrete. Rather than buying floor leveling, I'm considering your Barricade product with shims. Can I use cedar shims in places where the rise is greater than 1/4" / 6'?

Asked by: Jurb68
Yes, we did use cedar shims to level the sub-floor under the shed.

Could I level a lower part / corner of the floor with sand ..? Instead of mixing messy levelling compound ?

Asked by: Sand01
No I would not recommend using sand as it will move with vibrations and the floor would then be unlevel again. I recommend the leveling compound or shims of the gap is with in reason.

If you can only shim up to 1/4" how would you install this product in a basement with a sloping concrete floor where a drain is near the center of the room on other side of the wall? It slopes from exterior wall to drain about half inch over 12'.

Asked by: TY204
1/2” over 12’ is not much so level as best you can using no more than 4 shims, otherwise you can use self-levelling concrete

Anchoring would depend on the finished flooring. Stretch carpet and Ceramic applications require certain patterns of anchoring. Carpet: To prevent panel uplift when stretching carpet, fasten Barricade Insulated Subfloor panels to the concrete floor with flat head 1/4" x 2 1/4" or 2 3/4" concrete fasteners every other panel at perimeter edges and one in the panel in the centre of the room. Use a 3/16" x 4 1/2" drill bit to bore the holes. Install tack strips on top of the Barricade Insulated Subfloor panels around the perimeter of the room, to hold the carpet down. Install pad and carpet. Do not glue the underpad or carpet directly to the Barricade Insulated Subfloor panels. Ceramic Tile: Fasten each Barricade Insulated Subfloor panel with five, flat head and countersunk, concrete fasteners to the concrete floor to prevent movement or shifting of the finished ceramic tile floor. We recommend one in each of the four corners and one in the centre of the panel. Use flat head 1/4" x 2 1/4" or 2 3/4" concrete fasteners and a 3/16" x 4 1/2" drill bit to bore the holes. Next install an approved tile underlayment over Barricade Insulated Subfloor making sure you follow their installation guidelines for installing over a wood subfloor. NOTE: Barricade Insulated Subfloor must lay perfectly stable. A sound recommendation would be to have one person walk the floor. Step heavy or bounce, with another looking for vertical movement of panels. If there is noticeable movement, mark the areas in question with an X and insert another concrete fastener. Please note that we also do not recommend gluing underlayments or other wood flooring materials to Barricade Insulated Subfloor.

Subfloor Air Plus Panel - Air Gap Technology - 23.5" x 23.5" is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install - great product! I recently made the decision to replace the old carpet in my basement family room and was looking for an effective and easy solution. I have never done a 'floor renovation' before but thought I give it a try especially as friends went with the same product. The panels are not cheap but the combination of improved airflow and the straight forward installation makes it worth it. I can only estimate how much time I saved compared to putting in a sublayer mat and then separate OSB boards. These boards are easy to transport, cut and level and make it even easier to lay the floor (I went with laminate) afterwards. The renovation is now complete and I am very happy that I went with this product and with the end result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product We did our basement using this product. We originally had carpet there and instead installed this with a vinyl floor. The basement temperature has gone up quite noticeably and it help create a nice even floor. This was an extremely easy product to use and the results were exactly what we wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Very easy to install. If you have a router to regroove you cut pieces you will not need as many tiles. I got away with sqft/3.7= # of tiles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get Rid of Musty Smells. Own some old houses and Barricade has been great for keeping the musty smells away in the basements in addition to being a much warmer floor than concrete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy, efficient. I bought this product for the second time just because I was very happy with my first room installation. There are no Cons in describing this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good subfloor for a warmer basement We have installed it in our basement under a laminate. The laminate had a pre-glued .250" soft backing - which helped to address the difference in height between the subfloor panels. Worth noting that your basement concrete floor is not leveled probably - so you would also need to use shims (SOLD SEPARATELY by the subfloor manufacturer). I wish the shims were provided with the panels at no additional cost. All in all it has been 2.5 years since we've installed it - and we are still happy!
