Description

This premium quality, double-layer laminate shingle by BP Canada® features larger tabs, dramatic 3-dimensional shadow bands, and dried colouring to create a deep, bold and dynamic style. With Weather-Tite® 2-band high-tack adhesive technology, the Mystique 42 roofing shingles block out water and stands up to high winds and rain. Made from a fibreglass matte with a mineral-granule surface, this laminate asphalt shingle covers a larger area to reduce the number of shingles required per square foot. This product is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

What do I use as a starter strip under first row of shingles ?

BP does make a special starter strip, but you will only find them at roofing supply stores. Easiest way is to use Dakota shingles. Install them upside down, granular and tar facing up. Stagger the joints of shingles. Dakota are shorter than Mystique, so at a certain point, the joints will get closer together. If they do, cut the starter shingle back to get the joints staggered again.

For BP Mystique shingles, you can use Dakota shingles for capping shingles. Do not use Mystique shingles for capping. They will delaminate when they are bent over the peak or the hip.
