The answer is a definite "yes" used with all the old parts and rails. By the way the previous door opener I had was a Sears craftman . Hope this helps!

You need to pry the sides of the light cover outward to release. It is a little difficult since each side has to be done at more or less the same time. I would ask a neighbour to help, it is easy to lose you balance on a ladder.

What is the difference between the C205c and the c203c units

Very little. The 205 uses a full chain while the 203 uses a combo of chain and cable. Chamberlain has been using this combo for over 15 years and has proven very reliable. More chain means more chain stretch and lubrication. The 205 has a single button remote and the 203 has a three button remote so you can control more than one door or light control.

Chamberlain doesn't provide weight ratings for their openers. Your door should be balanced by a spring system anyway. All residential doors should only require 7 Lbs. of pressure to open. Get a unit with more lift force if the door gets frequent use. Look up the owners manual for more detailed drawings.

Since this is an older version I was able to use the existing rails and hardware and bolt it to the top of the motor unit. Much easier and faster than replacing the door hardware and rail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Skiddy from Very reasonably priced and featured opener. Bought on sale thru on-line at Lowe's, came in three days! Well packed and easy to put together. Works well with HomeLink in our car. Relatively quiet - but we had become use to the noise of the 40 year old opener this one replaced. Two issues not addressed in the installation manual but answered by the folks at Chamberlain via the 1-800 number. To install as provided, almost 330cm (130 inches) of space is required between the header above the door and the end of the motor unit. At least 5cm (2 inches) is required to get at the program buttons and connect the wires. The rail section can be cut to fit smaller spaces. During programming, the trolley jammed and the unit would not move. This is due to the safety stop bolt next to the motor unit using a toothed lock washer nut. The trolley can ride onto the teeth on the nut and jamb, causing the unit to just buzz and flash false codes. A small spacer between the rail and lock nut would prevent this.

Although it was fairly easy to install, I was disappointed to realize that the unit only comes with one remote opener. The cost of purchasing an extra opener would be 25% of the total cost of the kit. Basically, BUYER BEWARE!!!

The problem is the Homelink they advertise is not compatible with most cars without a $40 compatibility bridge that seems to be impossible to find in Canada. So, now I can only get one of my 2 cars in the garage.
