Can this BBQ be converted to natural gas?

Does not look like it can be converted to natural gas. This grill is designed for charcoal fuel. You can add a side firebox and convert it to a smoker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tifu from Good bbq, cheap paint Good quality bbq, nothing to complain…., but the paint is a shame. It peels off easily, if you don’t pay attention. I understand that if you use it by the book, the paint stays just fine. However, I did have better experiences. Before this bbg I used to use a Nexgrill gas bbq until the gaz burners let me down. Then, I took the burners out and I turned it into a wood/charcoal bbq. I burned there almost all the wood from my backyard to the point that the flames were getting out dangerously through all the holes around. I abused my old Nexgrill big time. And guess what? The paint remained intact. Looking at this Chargriller, built so good and coated in a cheap “outdoor metal paint” … it’s just a shame

I grill only with charcoal for the added smoke and real BBQ flavor vs. gas grills. The Super Pro 2121 has performed very well over those 10 years, with only a periodic touch up spray paint job each Spring. The only thing I've had to replace was the charcoal ash pan 2 years ago. For the price, reliability and grilling performance, you really can't go wrong with any of Char Griller's products! I will most definitely purchase another one of these, if this one ever wears out!!...just great products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grilling Kilted from Great improvements from the Original I still have my original Super Pro from 15 years ago, they really last! I wanted to see the improvements, there are many. So much easier to assemble, leg and wheel design is better. Instructions more helpful. Wooden handles and shelves have been upgraded to steel with built in hooks for tools. Cast iron grates keep a constant temperature better. They also have plenty of room for anything you want to grill. Don’t forget to add a Side Fire Box to make this grill into an amazing smoker.

This grill was easy to build, had it built seasoned and grilling in no time. The versatility of the Super Pro is great, you can direct grill, add the side firebox to smoke, smoke in the main grilling area and can be used for open fire rotisserie cooking as well. I grill quite often in the Midwest and deal with all sorts of various weather and this grill can handle the job in any weather. I seasoned it and grilled through snow with it already. You definitely want to keep it covered when it’s not in use. Highly recommend this grill/smoker and looking forward to many cooks in the future.

Cast iron cooking grates are heavy duty and the original "non stick" cooking surface once they are seasoned. Just heat, wire brush, wipe with paper towel, and cook. Food releases naturally after it's heated. It does use some charcoal but raising the charcoal pan can make it much more efficient with charcoal used. Small fire for one or two servings, or spread out a big load to grill a lot. Indirect smoking is also easy. Use lump charcoal for indirect/many hours so you can add more without pre-lighting the charcoal. The warming rack will get in the way of a tall item like a Turkey, but can be done if you tilt it back by unhooking the sides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Russ from Very Good All Around Grill and Smoker I purchased my 2121 two years ago and have grilled burgers and brats, smoked brisket and salmon, among other uses. My wife and I have really loved what it does for smoked leg of lamb and every other meat we prepared on it. Roasting vegetables and warming bread on the upper rack adds versatility to this grill. There is plenty of room to feed a large group thanks to the warming rack. It is a bit of a pain to add coal and chips when smoking, but there is a solution to that and I plan to add a side box this year. Bottom line - My wife tells me it was the best purchase we ever made! I did need to replace the ash pan after one year because the welds on each end failed and the grate rusted through, but that was not a big concern.

My husband has a kettle grill which I don't like because you have to turn the entire grill over to empty the ash. I made my first fire 4 weeks ago with disastrous results. Then I joined The Grill Beast VIP Facebook group. Those people are way more than helpful. Three weeks ago I spatchcocked one chicken. Two weeks ago I spatchcocked two chickens. Last Sunday I smoked three racks of ribs that were awesome and gone in four days (just the two of us). So... I bought the firebox so I have more room and have the option to smoke with chunks of wood. Gonestly, couldn't be happier with the brand or manufacturing. I WILL buy Char-Griller again.

It has held up well though our crazy midwest weather and holds heat we'll. We have a pretty large family and there is also so much room on this thing that we can feed everybody pretty comfortably! My best advice would be to make sure that you follow the directions about how to prep this for its first use. Once you get it seasoned right, it really isn't too difficult to keep clean!

Every time I fire up the grill, I get the same excitement as I did the first time. Your grills are superior in quality, performance, and design. And of course, the variety of cooking methods the grill provides. I just love my grill. I get great tasting grilled foods. The grill itself is in fantastic condition for all these years. I do need to replace some worn out parts of normal wear and tear, which I will order but I'm keeping my grill for as long as, I believe, a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Roadclock from Does everything I could want I purchased the grill at my wife's request (not that it took much convincing). My first attempt was with a brisket, low and slow. The pros told me that was a mistake as it takes over 300°F to break down the marbling - 225° for six hours didn't do the trick. It was very tasty! Since I have grilled burgers, brats, steaks, veal chops, corn, fish, ... and smoked ribs, pork loin, leg of lamb, fish, and anything else that will take smoke. And then I bought the side fire box! I continue to have success (and fun) cooking everything and anything on my grill. It is a very versatile charcoal grill with only a few frills that handles every job like a champ. Unless you really need the control of gas, this is a great affordable all-around grill - smoker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by John from I have had one of these for over 20 years still going strong it stayed outside on back patio with a small overhang , used to have big family re unions and i would smoke hams turkeys or both , every few years a little bbq black paint, this year i am fixin up all bbqs , 2 gas and my chargriller , same cast iron grates and cast iron lifting handle, i have a homemade clay pot smoker also , haha .Most of my family is gone now so i cook for myself , but the chargriller brings back a lot of memories. Since I found your website i will order a few parts , maybe thermometer and chargriller plaque.The way I found your website was the thermometer on the front that said chargriller, The chargriller is just as strong today as it was over 20 years ago , the thermometer made me find you guys !! It's so heavy that I know the moment I got it that it would be hard to return, which itself is fine untill I realize after all the assembly that the stuff was used! Someone already bbqed in it with all the oily grease, along with all the burned marks. Some parts are also already rusted. However it's so heavy that I can't really return it. Now I am stuck with a rusty assembled grill that I paid the price for a new item. No incentive to start grilling anything in it.

When I found this- it was an easy decision. However upon the first use, the exterior paint of the grill started peeling from the heat of the coal. I don't have a lot of faith this will be a long lasting purchase.

I really like the upgraded metal shelves which add more stability. The cooking capacity is a huge upgrade to what I am used to as I was using the Patio Pro. I also really like the fact that you can add on a fire box as I’m starting to master the offset smoking. If you’re looking for a smoker that’s not going to break the bank and has lots of room plus a warming rack, I would highly recommend this smoker to all of you bbq enthusiasts!

Stays outside on my deck and has rarely been covered.Only side fire box has rusted on top due to heat. Have recommended this grill to several friends and family. Would buy nothing but this in the future. Just got a new one today as a gift again but not sure I'm ready to replace my "baby" just yet. Also I am a heavy user. Probably grill three days minimum a week even during the winter months here in NC.

This grill cooks beautifully and I've very seldom had flare ups when cooking chicken halves. The steel used to make this grill is heavy enough and I don't have any rust issues. I did buy the cover when I bought the grill, so I cover it once it has cooled down. My only complaint is that the cover hasn't held up to the South Mississippi sunshine! But, after almost three years, I really shouldn't complain. You can't go wrong with this grill!

If I would have covered it sooner than later our first Super Pro would still be grilling. There is no question this is the perfect grill for burgers, chicken, steaks, ribs,......you name it, the Char Griller Super Pro can do it. And the CharGriller folks have been very helpful with accessories and an occasional part. Fast delivery at a good honest price. Buy this grill ....... You'll love it.....

He told me I wouldn't regret it. He's absolutely correct!! After seasoning the grates, it was on!! On Memorial Day I cooked two butts, ribs, and burgers!! I had that grill hot and going pretty much all day!! Mater of fact, I've had it going almost every evening since. I am VERY pleased with my new grill!! If you're reading this and wondering about purchasing one, you won't regret it!!

It is rusty on its outer surface now. I do stove black it from time to time. The ash pan did rot away after about 8 years, not to bad. Wheels did give out a few years ago, sun aged not actually rolled anywhere. I bought an add on stove burner, it rusted out after a while. I also added a Texas smoke box, hardly ever use it. Parts are available, which is good. Get one and enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grill Man Tel from This grill is my baby I love this grill but unfortunately yesterday something terrible happened I was grilling and I went to take off one of the cast iron grates to move my charcoal around and the grate fell and a big chunk of the grate broke off I yelled out some pretty harsh words to the point my neighbor came out and asked what's wrong I'm having family over for Memorial Day hope I can get a replacement grate by the holiday I'm still lost on how this can happen to cast iron but I still love my grill.

I've cooked everything from beef to oysters in the shell. Works great for lamb Kabobs and all kinds of vegis. A word of caution. FOLLOW the instructions on coating the outside of the grill. I live on the OR coast and not a bit of rust on it. I do recoat the outside with Pam every year or so. I figure will last me until I'm pushing up Daisies.

I have owned this grill for 10+ years and use it extensively. I have replaced the cast iron grills and the side smoker once. With this item and the home website I have become proficient in smoking ribs, pork roasts, briskest and many other cuts of meat. I highly recommend this versatile bbq for its value and quality and will buy another if and when it needs to be replaced.

Excellent heat retention and easy to hold steady temperature. Take your time, get the fire box rolling and let the unit settle into a steady inside temperature of around 120¡ before placing meat inside. Easy to control flame and smoke content with venting system and swinging cap on smoke stack. Can't go wrong with this smoker. Great value. I'm known for having the best Butt in town.

I have owned a Char Griller for over ten years, it never let me down, but it was time for a new one. This grill was a great price, couldn't be beat. I was amazed at how fast the coals got ready to cook. The grates are of good quality and it cooked the food evenly. I was able to cook for a large group with the large grilling area. I have no complaints with this grill. I look forward to many years of grilling.

I did pick up the tailgating assembly. Got to use it for football games and church functions. Worked great but my truck died so I can't use that anymore. If you are looking for a great, entry level grill, look no further. The Char-Griller is more stout than other options in this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by redcoat155 from Updated features raise the bar for the Super Pro The Char Griller Super Pro has always been a solid value for charcoal grills but the new design improves the experience from the moment you open the box! Like all of the Char Griller products this grill comes ready to be assembled with all of the parts wrapped in plastic or foam sheets. The instructions are provided in both English and Spanish but you could literally use either since the assembly diagrams resemble the best Lego set instructions you have ever owned! Notable new features include integrated pem nuts in the body of the barrel simplifying the assembly. The wood decks and handle have been replaced with metal which will be much easier to keep clean. The redesigned legs are much more stable and the large plastic wheels are definitely more rugged than the ones used in the past model. The grates are still a nice cast iron but are lighter and easier to managed. The adjustable charcoal pan utilizes reshaped adjustment handles that stay straight when placed in the highest rack position. The hooks that hold the pan in place could be bigger but are adequate. A new feature are the utensil hooks formed into the side deck which makes a handy place to store the grill lifter. Seasoning was very easy and the instructions clear. In all, I had the grill built by myself in about an hour and was up and grilling in short order!
