Greetings, Coolaroo shades are mounted using the included mounting brackets and screws, and can be mounted on any flat, level surface that can support the brackets (a minimum space of 2 in. x 3 in. is recommended) and the weight of the shade (about 10 lbs). Rated 4 out of 5 by JBCorrado from Nice functional exterior blinds Bought three of these blinds and installed one on the side and two at the top of my pergola/gazebo. They lock into hooks so the blinds stay in place and the winding/unwinding is done with a rod that acts like a crank. As I operate the blinds each time we are outdoors, the speed of this operation is the only minor setback as it feels slow taking several seconds. These blinds are light, installed easily with the simple end brackets mounted by screws, they look good and filter out 80% of the light. Only longevity is not known but I will do my part to prolong their lifespan: I roll them up for wind sheer and rain protection and I will store them indoors for winter. Overall a great buy slightly marred by its relatively slow operation.

It was fairly easy to do but would recommend having two people install it. One thing I wanted to mention was the product is shown on the Lowes website as having a chain cord (and it's mentioned in the product description) but it actually has a crank. Not a huge deal but it is a little more noticeable over a chain cord. We'll see how the shade holds up with time but so far it's definitely helping cool the inside of the house and reduce glare and sun on the porch.

Not only was it a great price but the product is lightweight and very easy to install. I have an odd size shaped pergola so I put two side by side and it does an amazing job of blocking the hot afternoon sun. Now my guests can enjoy the patio without baking. I plan on unhitching the roller shade and storing inside the garage during the winter. I absolutely love how it blends in with my pergola too!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kevin416 from Almond colour: Cool the porch and enjoy the sun! Bought two of the 10-foot wide (by 6 foot long) shades in the almond colour. Installed in a West facing back deck. This colour allows a good deal of light to come through but you won't need to squint against the glare. It also cuts down on a lot of the heat. Despite being 10 feet wide they are surprisingly light and the crank works very well to raise and lower the shade. Tie downs are included and are well made, bungeecord, ball-toggle style. If the ties are not used, the shade does catch a lot of wind - if this is a concern to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rauhala from PRoduct is great, supplier not so I bought this online at Lowes and we picked it up at the Newmarket store and brought it to our cottage and installed it easily. It looks great, fits well and is exactly what we wanted. BUT...When I opened the box, I noticed it had been sealed with fibreglass tape which often means the product is a resale because it had been opened or returned prior. When we opened the parts bags, we saw that the clutch bracket metal was very twisted and could not be installed in that condition. My husband finally was able to bend the metal back into the approximate angle needed so we could install the blind. Check your packaging, if it's a reseal, it could be damaged, make sure it's not before you leave the store. Product, perfect, supplier quality control poor.

Also seems to be quite durable as we accidentally left it rolled down a few times when it was windy and there was no damage done.

I have tried several different things to provide shade in the backyard and every spring the hunt starts again to find something that works and is durable in the outdoors. We installed a Coolaroo shade sail first and it was a natural fit to install the Coolaroo blind as well. It filters the sun without making it dark. It was simple to install and so easy to adjust up or down. Love the quality and I know it will last for years to come.
