The Coolaroo products are made out a knitted plastic material called HDPE, they are not water tight. They might protect your gazebo from light rains but any heaver rainfalls might go through the fabric.

Does this shade have a crank to raise and lower the shade.  I have purchased several Coolaroo shades and the mention of cords confuses me as non of mine have cords.  Is this a different model and if so what model number do I look for?

For years I was using a curtain on the south side of my gazebo to protect from the sun, which worked but was not ideal when there was even a slight breeze. A neighbor just bought one of these blinds and as soon as I saw it, I knew instantly that it was the best solution to replace the curtain. I'm so happy with it. Caveat, you will need to be two people to install it. ,

Great shade! But not too dark - still let some light through while dripping the temp in the sitting area. Will see how they fair in the Okanagan sun over time. I would recommend these to anyone.

You are still able to see through it but it dies give you privacy. It mounts easily and quickly. It is very simple to use and is high quality.

It has toggles on each end to tie it down for wind, but you must you must tie it to something below it. If you attach it horizontally the toggle pulls out from the frame. It is not a retractable blind, you must use the hand crank to put it up and down.
