Is this material fire resistant? What is the weight bearing capacity, if installed on a flat gazebo roof?

Asked by: Marauder 69
Hello Marauder 697071, thank you for your interest in Ondura panels. Ondura panels cannot be installed to a flat roof. Ondura panels must be installed on a minimum pitch of 2" per every 12" and in areas that experience snow/ ice this pitch must be at least 3" for every 12". For project specific information or more details please contact our customer service department at 1-540-898-7000 opt.2 M-F 8a-5pm EST.

Would you cut them for us

Asked by: Mike MC
I don't believe Lowes will cut them, but you can call the nearest store and ask. My husband transported them in our SUV (they're quite flexible) and then he used a hand saw to cut them to size as they were a bit larger than what we needed. They do leave an oily tar like film on the saw blade so you want to cut one panel, clean the saw and then repeat with the others you need to cut. If this product is way too large measurement wise, you can always purchase the package of roofing tiles (different brand name, but same product).

Can I use this under my deck for water runoff?

Asked by: Billyboy00
Hello Billyboy00, thank you for your interest in Ondura. Ondura panels cannot be used as an underdeck system due to the material and it's weight. Tuftex DeckDrain panels. another panel Onduline manufactuers, are perfect for this type of project and can be found at Lowe's. PVC panels require substantial UV treatment to avoid substantial sun damage/corrosion. Does UV (sun) rays play a role with this product ? if so, pls explain,..

I am building a shed under my deck. I don’t have room to screw from the top. Can I screw the panels from underneath? Thanks!

Asked by: Oilers22
Try this. Screw panels ( Ones you select) on strapping and slide onto roof supports and screw from the underside to strapping. You are not clear whether you built frame under deck. You can add extra cross pieces between roof joists to screw through. This will work if you are not screwing to deck joists.

Corrugated Panel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible but easy to work with I was surprised that the panels were flexible and not hard. I was putting the panels on a frame rather than directly in to plywood, so was worried about the flexibility, but I decoded to make the best of it. Panels were very easy to cut and lift, even for just myself working. The guide online was helpful but could have included a few more reasons why it’s important to do things the way they describe. Overall it looks way better than I imagined and I’m hopeful it makes it through the Ottawa winter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from life span I like the ease with which Ondura panels are installed. My only reservation is the painted coating life span. On my south facing roof it needs to be recoated every 6 or 7 years. North facing roof needs it about every 10 years. As long as one can keep the roof material painted, it should last over 20 years. I recently had a section of my roof redone with new roofing panels after 30 years. The material was brittle and literally falling apart, still not bad after such a long time. My house on the Carolina coast, has been through a number of powerful hurricanes and never lost the roofing except for a piece of cap. My neighbors with standard shingle roofing always loose shingles. I have always insisted on the stainless steel fasteners for my roof. Galvanized coated rust here on the coast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to work with-looks great! Need to wait until Our Lowes gets the next shipment in to finish the last two pieces. Very easy to matchup, cut and screw in. Will do the house next with the tips we learned. Tips: use a pillow for your knees that board trick is still hard, they are durable to withstand body weight no problem. Walk cross two seems ( sideways) you weight is distributed better and won’t crush the peaks. Walking in the seems can be tricky and cause you to walk to the peaks. If you think you might replace go with the nails , the screws are very unforgiving. Our North facing should last the life of my garage so I am not concerned. replacement is easier is all with nails. Easy to carry with the right bend, even on windy days . Looking forward to the last two panels making it to Lowes , then will wait for a sale to tackle the North wall of the house.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a serious roof - compares to translucent panel I bought these to roof a livestock shelter. I was surprised at how light the material is and how unforgiving it is in terms of application - if you need to move a nail, be prepared for a huge rip! This also is not a material I'll be able to move and use again. Was hoping this was a step up from those plastic translucent panels...it might be a slight nudge forward but really...next time I'll do the galvanized metal sheets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Product We just replaced our back yard garden porch roof with this product. The job was easy to do and install. We found the rigidness of these panels felt like they would last a long time. It's kind of like a plastic panel but with asphalt roof style material. Easy to cut and, with the proper roof screws, a breeze to work with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No waste so easy to use After doing my garage , went for the North facing roof if my house. One slope rest of the roof is flat so easy to lay without too many cuts. Very forgiving with overlapping and so easy to line up and just go. The nails are better than screws as you can judge the final strikes without damaging the peaks with a crush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy This product is really easy to install For my wife and I it only took us one afternoon to put a brand new roof on our garage that look just like metal. No cuts either!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEAUTIFUL COLOURS Very quick to install, goes right over shingles, easy to cut looks great when installed. the best part is i probably won't have to do the roof again.
