Countertop Transformations can withstand heat up to 135°C (275°F) for SHORT PERIODS
OF TIME. Cookware still hot from the stove, oven or microwave, as well as electric skillets,
waffle irons, curling irons and hot rollers, should not be placed directly on the coated surface.
Use a trivet, insulated hot pad or other protective device beneath all heated objects.
In regards to chipping; This is a coating, albeit a very durable one, but still a coating. The base coat is designed for maximum adhesion and then the topcoat provides the durability. That being said, if you could damage or scratch the countertop, you could damage or scratch the coating. On the positive side, it's very easy to retouch up if need be.
