I have had this shop vac for several years but with very limited use and great care taken to maintain peak operation. Out of nowhere last week it started making a chattering noise and the motor was sparking and it emitted a burning smell. Now it wont even start, or it will kind of start if I tap on it lightly then it will die out in a few seconds. Similar issue as the commenter Builderman wrote below. I would like to give Craftsman a chance to make things right with the other 16 Gallon detachable leaf blower model. I have a feeling that Craftsman KNEW about this blower's tendency to malfunction and that's why they changed the design of the detachable blower to the sideways laying type on the newer models. This is not fair to those of us who supported the company when they had this old faulty model and I would like a significant discount toward the purchase of the new 16 Gal model. I will be contaminating customer service in addition to this review ASAP.

I have had mine for about 5 years now and I beat the s$#t out of it every single day really it runs none stop the whole day 5 to 6 days a week. I'm a wood turner with a small shop so I don't have room for a big shop vac system so I got this vacuum in the fall of 19 and it still works and sucks so good that it's irritating every time it sucks something up that I wasn't even close to. I only have I bad thing to say and it's half on me and that's the fact that it's hard to find a manual online to make sure I'm ordering the right filter. I have never used it as a blower except to see how good it was and it literally will blow off my driveway off without me having to move my feet. I feel like all of these bad reviews are left by people who make warning signs a must have. Like don't touch very hot fire.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Builder Man from Absolute Trash - DO NOT BUY!!! Bought this Crapsman vac leas than a year ago, mild use maybe 4-5 times for dry vac applications. Complete motor failure, extreme arching, major FIRE danger, no power, bad smell, melting plastic. THIS PRODUCT IS DANGEROUS. Numerous reports of the same problem are reported across the internet. DO NOT BUY CRAFTSMAN SHOP VACs

Rated 1 out of 5 by Midwest Land Manager from Motor died On the 6th time using it (very light duty), could smell that burning smell. Shut it down and checked filters and can level. Can had very little dirt and all filters were not very dirty. Turned it back on and smell was still there. Conclusion is that both brushes had burnt out on the motor (or severely damaged). I had shut it down quick and didn’t suffocate the system. In my opinion, they light use and quick death do not justify this for the price nor a place in my shop for the price. Disappointed

Rated 1 out of 5 by The Backwoods Mechanic YT from Don't Waste Your Money I got this Wet Dry Vac with detachable blower this morning, unboxed it and went to a jobsite. The moment I went to use the vacuum portion, I couldn't. The blower side was putting out amazing pressure but the vacuum wouldn't even pick up busted sheetrock the size of a dime. It effectively cost me money when I had to run to another jobsite and get my other vacuum just to finish the job . I got the same type 5 years ago and after a year the motor lost its brush so I hoped this experiance would be better. It's becoming a thing for Craftsman to let me down , which is sad considering most Americans have trusted this brand for decades Sadly I made the mistake of paying cash and can't find my receipt at this point so now I'm stuck with this junk I HIGHLY recommend , stay away from this product
