Craftsman just isn't what it used to be. Not impressed with this vac at all. When I first started using it I could smell this "hot electrical" smell when the motor warmed up. Buyer beware! Go with something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by RonH from Disappointing I'm disappointed that it was not adequately described on the web site. Most vacs now include the dust bag filter, this one does not. No car detail nozzle. A scrap of velcro is not a cord storage feature. I paid full price for a shop vac that is now discontinued THREE DAYS after I ordered it! I have not turned it on yet, not sure I want to keep it.

On the last use, the motor started to bog down and there was burning electrical smell. Thinking may be the filter was clogged or it was something else, I inspected the filter and found it had plenty of life, there were no immediate mechanical issues I could see. I turned the vacuum on a second time and it did the same thing. I have since reached out to Craftsman and they said they will replace the unit. Hopefully the replacement will work better.

Blew off the dirt making the driveway less slippery after rain. Also have used the blower attachment on Lanai and was surprised how quickly the task ended.

I have had this shop vac for several years but with very limited use and great care taken to maintain peak operation. Out of nowhere last week it started making a chattering noise and the motor was sparking and it emitted a burning smell. Now it wont even start, or it will kind of start if I tap on it lightly then it will die out in a few seconds. Similar issue as the commenter Builderman wrote below. I would like to give Craftsman a chance to make things right with the other 16 Gallon detachable leaf blower model. I have a feeling that Craftsman KNEW about this blower's tendency to malfunction and that's why they changed the design of the detachable blower to the sideways laying type on the newer models. This is not fair to those of us who supported the company when they had this old faulty model and I would like a significant discount toward the purchase of the new 16 Gal model. I will be contaminating customer service in addition to this review ASAP.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Midwest Land Manager from Motor died On the 6th time using it (very light duty), could smell that burning smell. Shut it down and checked filters and can level. Can had very little dirt and all filters were not very dirty. Turned it back on and smell was still there. Conclusion is that both brushes had burnt out on the motor (or severely damaged). I had shut it down quick and didn’t suffocate the system. In my opinion, they light use and quick death do not justify this for the price nor a place in my shop for the price. Disappointed

The moment I went to use the vacuum portion, I couldn't. The blower side was putting out amazing pressure but the vacuum wouldn't even pick up busted sheetrock the size of a dime. It effectively cost me money when I had to run to another jobsite and get my other vacuum just to finish the job . I got the same type 5 years ago and after a year the motor lost its brush so I hoped this experiance would be better. It's becoming a thing for Craftsman to let me down , which is sad considering most Americans have trusted this brand for decades Sadly I made the mistake of paying cash and can't find my receipt at this point so now I'm stuck with this junk I HIGHLY recommend , stay away from this product

Motor started acting up, then started arching severely, then sparks started shooting out!!!?!? So i cracked it open and found the brushes destroyed from extreme arching, clearly a manufacturer issue, no way to cause this to happen with ordinary use. Lots of sparks!!!THIS PRODUCT IS DANGEROUS. Ever try to put out a plastic fire? Dont be fooled, Craftsman? More like Crapman

After reading other reviews I'm glad I did. apparently this model is widely reviewed as junk. motor burns up. My chief complaint is its suction isn't high enough to pick up nails. I exchanged for Dewalt. if I'm not careful it'll suck me up in the hose.lol. seriously...pass on this model( and I'm a craftsman man)

Rated 2 out of 5 by Brandon from Died with less than 5 uses I give it 2 stars because the Vac died with less than 5 uses. The motor started smelling and burned out. It wasn' clogged or being abused. When I check the filter it was still very clean. Only reason I gave it a second star is because it comes with quite a bit of accessories and the bin is heavy duty, but none of that matters if it doesn't work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Craftsman 16 gal shop vac from Attachments holders allows them to fall off easy Has very good suction which is why I purchased the higher HP unit. The filters are very stout which is great. The way items clip around the top of this canister is dumb as when the hose hits one they fall off. The picture showed a different tools (IE wet vac squeegee and way accessories clip around the top is different. The clips that hold the hose on, so it does not pull out, are plastic and I see these breaking off quickly. The pic I originally saw showed that the hose screwed on which is a better, longer lasting way to achieve this. The hose ID is also not truly 2.5" as noted but more like 2". I use this vacuum a lot to pick up the pods that fall out of our trees that are in AZ and well the 2" hose has a tendency to catch the pods as the go to a point and your picking up multiple at the same time so you have to unplug the hose. I may be returning and getting the Shop Vac brand from them as that hose does screw on and it has a attachment bucket that all the attachments sit in.

Motor sputtering like brushes are out. Black smoke trail on side of motor. Gonna need a replacement please!! No power....poor suction......PPDesign!!!
