Rated 3 out of 5 by Anna from Not great and not bad. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have a few small sanding jobs around the house, this unit might do just fine. However, for any real work, I would suggest going with something that has a metal body and is built a bit more reliably. The plastic guide for the belt got so hot while sanding a piece of the coarse of maybe an hour, that it melted and sheered right off. I was still able to use the unit, but I know constantly have to play with the belt adjustment to keep the belt on track. The dust collection sack does work pretty well, compared to other home gamer products I have used in the past and it does feel pretty solid in your hands. Just does not seem to be built for any semi-pro use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by John from Decent sander [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this for the price to redo my oak stair treads. Comes with 60 grit belt. but I used 80 grit. Works fine and you will need to watch the adjustment for the belt alignment to keep it aligned part of the time. I did like the front flip guard to keep you off the wall if needed. You can flip it up when needed as well. The handle also adjusts. Clamp lever is a little hard. I noticed the trig lock didnt spring back to normal after a few times. But it still works. Overall it worked good for the money. I used an oscillating tool to get the corners and edges.

Rated 1 out of 5 by btbarry from Buyer Beware I was optimistic on this one. Read some of the reviews and chalked it up to bad luck for others. Well, after what I consider to be moderate use on a weekend, this unit is done. The rubber gasket around the back wheel basically shredded about halfway off from what appears to be heat failure. The unit still technically "runs", but the belts ride about halfway off the track. No amount of adjusting will fix this issue. For clarity, I was sanding down painted deck boards with all screws removed with 3x21 40 grit belts. Will end up having to finish the job with my orbital sander with over 100 hours of operation compared to this one with maybe a couple of hours.

Put a low grit on and be careful because blink and you could lose your project. The good thing is it light so you can really control it without feeling like your fighting gravety too. I'd by it again 3vtines and still spend less then the next in price line. Of and the way the front belt opens up means you can look at what your sanding... like it should be with no Touch for a second, Look, Repeat. Well done craftsman!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Weekend-diy-guy from Light duty sander [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sander handled fine and did a good job. I would recommend this for only light duty work though. The housing is all plastic and there is a lot of heat generated if this runs for any length of time and the plastic will melt. In fact it melted in several places including the belt drive which got so hot it melted to the housing and quit working all together. By the way I only used it for a week. My guess this sander would work best for only 10 to 15 minutes at a time and then let cool down. Unfortunately, my project proved too big for this tool and I probably should have spent more money on a heavier duty one. Overall, it works good and will do fine for the small project occasional sanding. However, if you have a large project such a sanding a deck or floor, you probably should go with a different sander.

I used mine to sand down a cypress slab for a desk and it worked very well. If I only wish one thing for an improvement, it would be a little higher rpm. The power is sufficient and I am overall very satisfied with this belt sander.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Chop from BAD BELT SLIP AND NOISY CHATTER The first time I used it the belt started eating into the plastic housing. Within five minutes or so the sander got hot and the belt started slipping and chattering horribly. I’ve got a 30+ year old craftsman Belt sander that works flawlessly. I just thought it was time for an upgrade the old one is kind of heavy compared to some of the newer ones. Been a fan of craftsman for years, this is not the kind of quality I’d expect from them. Taking it back today

Rated 2 out of 5 by haroldj from Light-duty at best This sander may be fine for small woodworking projects or small tasks around the house, but that's about it. After a few days of sanding floor boards on my deck, this Craftsman has about had it. I noticed it was getting hot after using it for about 5 minutes so I took breaks often to let it cool off. After all, it's plastic. Today I noticed the belt was wandering around much more than when I first started. After it threw yet another belt, I noticed the rear roller had worn down unevenly on one side, flush with the housing. The front roller is worn down on both ends. When the belt wanders over to the left and starts rubbing the housing, it will throw that belt fairly quick. I give up on this sander. If you're doing something beyond light-duty, don't waste your money. Also be aware that the bag gets hot too. If you try to use it left-handed to give your right arm a break, you'll know it gets really hot.
