This CRAFTSMAN V20 20-volt MAX 7-1/4-in cordless mitre saw is powered by a powerful motor running at 3,800 RPM designed for cutting 2 dimensional lumber, hardwoods, baseboards and trims with ease. The sliding 7-1/4-in blade allows for a crosscut capacity of up to 8-in while the 9-mitre detent and single bevel blade allows for angled cuts. The lightweight design coming in a 21.8-lb coupled with the side carry handles make this unit extremely portable. The LED light eliminates shadows and provides an accurate and easy cut line to follow. The saw is sold with a fast charger that recharges high capacity lithium batteries in 60 minutes or less. I had a Ryobi chop saw before but was looking for something I could setup and put away much easier. This thing is very lightweight but put together to last. The 20 volt battery gives it plenty of power and it goes quite a while before a charge. The thing I like best about this thing is that it slides for those bigger cuts, smaller blade than what I’m used to but it cuts everything that my ryobi did. Dewalt was out of my price range but super glad a bought this one. Great investment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently replace all of my Craftsman NexTec tools with the V20 series to build a 12'x32' barn. The miter saw battery life is great with the 4.0AH battery pack and surprisingly good even with the 2.0 battery. I have been cutting 2x8x12s in PT and yellow pine. Compared to the last plug in miter saw it is very quiet and smooth on initial spool up. The miter stops are very accurate and repeatable, the slide is smooth with no noticeable slop. Although it does not have a laser guide I fount that the LED light is more useful. Capacity is very good despite the blade diameter. I have been able to cut 2x8 dimensional lumber at 22.5deg.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matt from Near Perfect This saw has quite a bit of power! Very surprising given the motor isn't brushless. We built a large deck with it and it handles 2x6's with ease. Even 2x8's weren't an issue. Very light weight and can be set just about anywhere. Even cut up wood for our kitchen remodel right there on a small counter top. The biggest con that I see is that it's not dual bevel. I can work around that but I'd trade this in for a new dual bevel model in a heartbeat. The Kobalt has this feature and if I weren't already invested into Craftsman I may have purchased that. The other negative I see is that it doesn't have a top handle. I really wish it did. I assume a new brushless motor will be on the next model but for their first cordless miter saw I'd say Craftsman did a great job overall! Very satisfied.

Rated 2 out of 5 by John from ok for some jobs This is billed as a compound miter saw with the ability to tilt and chop at a 45 degree angle. However, the way the guard is designed, when you try to cut something with the blade tilted 45 degrees, the little wheel that is supposed to lift the guard hits the bottom of the saw or the wood and pushes the blade up causing your supposed 45 degree cut to come out uneven. I have held the guard up with my thumb to get the job done but that’s annoying and dangerous. Other than that the saw works for most normal cuts and i like the backlight thats puts a shadow of the blade on your cut line. The powerr is a little underwhelming but serviceable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RichHorizons from Almost a 5 star product The one thing that is needed is either a small light to light up the cut line or a laser cut line that you can see, both would be best, and this could be engineered to an on/off switch so as not to drain the battery when you don’t need it. The shadow line only works in the right indoor light conditions. If you use this saw outside, or in an under construction area with low lighting, then you will need to supplement your lighting so that you can see your cut line. This is a big disappointment for me to an otherwise excellent saw that is performing perfectly. I also upgraded the saw blade for cutting my trim work. This is a much needed add-on.

I have a big 12" DeWalt Compound Mitre saw and table but it is a pain to set up and take down for smaller jobs. Being a Bosch 18v cordless tool devotee, buying a Craftsman saw with only one battery was not ideal. This saw however surprised me. It lacks the power of a corded saw naturally, but with a decent blade will work well for 2x lumber and trim. The battery lasts way beyond my expectations, and even in freezing temps does not sag. The whole saw weighs 20lb and is easy to grab and use wherever needed. I only get the big DeWalt out on occasion now as this Craftsman is so capable. I have a 3d printed battery adapter which allows the use of my Bosch batteries if needed, but honestly have only used the supplied battery as it does such a great job. The DeWalt may be more powerful, but it is a lot heavier and why pay more, and carry more, for a product when not needed? This saw is a 9/10 for me.

Happy with my purchase, has a ton of power to do framing and I used it to frame and trim a bathroom. Obviously being a small saw it has limitations but it’s plenty for what I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JCS from Great saw for the money! Im a custom home builder and like most people with alot of tools you tend to stick with one brand of tools because of the battery expense. Not having any current Craftsman battery tools I bit the bullet because this little saw is actually really nice for the money. My saw was almost perfect on initial set up and the battery life is awesome. 1300 S.F of unfinished oak floor installation on 2 batteries! I know most pros look down on tools that are not the big 3 Blue, Red or Yellow tools, but I look for value and this has it.
