The charger cord is difficult to remove from the battery - suggestions?

Does this trimmer use the same battery a the Dewalt 20V Max ?

The string does not advance. I have to take the bottom string cap off and manually pull out more string. What do you suggest?

Rated 4 out of 5 by DK from good product without battery problems [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only problem is going through line faster. After that, make sure battery is fully in the charger. Those who took the weed eater back because of the battery are missing out on a descent weed eater. You have hi and lo settings to cut with. You do not need full speed to trim. I found that out with our old echo 25cc gas trimmer. It doesn't matter if gas or cordless, less power will take care of edging and trimming needs. This will cut though some thick weeds and corn stalks the squirrels have planted in back yard. This is a lighter and noise is less. The size is great for smaller, 85 year old father.

So I looked around and saw this Craftsman. I've had it for a month now and am impressed with it. Fairly light weight and enough power for my needs. I have a large corner lot and use the tool one day for trimming, another day for edging. After 4 uses I have yet to replace the spool of cutting line. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is that you need a pretty good squeeze of the trigger to keep it powered. Can occasionally cause hand stiffness. I would recommend this tool and am pleased with my purchase.

The battery charges quickly and lasted for both the front and back trimming. When I was done I checked the meter on the back and it still had 2/3 battery left. I definitely would recommend not only this trimmer but the other 20V craftsman products. I picked up a drill, impact driver, and circular saw after I seen the quality of this product. Craftsman definitely has set the bar high again as they once did in the past. Give this brand and line of tools a chance again. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yardmom from Good If you want something heavy duty then invest into something heavy duty. This model is lightweight and easy to use. I have a small yard therefore it works for me. In regards to the previous negative battery reviews, for me The battery last about an hour which gives me enough time to trim what I have to. I use the low speed pretty much all the time. That speed is powerful enough to do the job. I’m a woman and it’s the right weight and size for me. My 16 yr old boy uses it too and no complaints. Again, if you’re wanting something the blast through heavy/high grass then obviously invest into something with more watts/batteries. This item is just right for the THE PRICE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicolerod from Great choice for mini yards Our yard is mostly decked over, but we have a very small patch of grass for our dogs which gets large and wild in summer just like every other yard in Texas. We are new homeowners and are not super mechanically minded so we decided to go with this weed eater, especially since my husband already has the drill set also. Now we have 3 batteries and all of them interchange. Our small yard hardly takes any charge off the battery and he's finished the yard in less than 20 min. It is so quiet I cant hear it when I am inside and quiet enough outside to not be really disturbing to the neighbors. The weight of this is so light that even I don't really have difficulty maneuvering it around.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DaveW from Short battery life, no trigger lock Just used the trimmer for the first time, and it's going back. First, the battery only lasts for about 20 minutes on a full charge -- even in the low speed mode. So, if you normally spend 60-90 minutes to cut your lot, figure on 6+ hours... 20 minutes to trim, an hour and a half to charge, 20 minutes to trim, etc., unless you buy lots of additional (and expensive) batteries. Second, there's no way to lock the trigger in the on position, and the trigger is fairly heavy to depress. So your hand will cramp up if you use this for any length of time. This trimmer would be fine if you have a tiny yard that you can trim in 15 minutes. Otherwise, get something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kim from Perfect for my needs [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my old, worn out, 11" corded trimmer with this battery operated Craftsman 13" trimmer.. and I am really happy that I did; not only is it lighter but it was getting old having to get the extension cord out after mowing, hook it up to an exterior outlets (several times to get to all the corners), constantly untangle the cord and often even tripping over it. Trimming my yard used to take me about 45 minutes, but now I can be done in about 15 minutes.. more time to spend with the grand kids.. Hallelujah!. - Very satisfied and a happy customer from O'Fallon, IL.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Reenie68 from Battery issues Just purchased this item. Charged the battery the night before (took forever) so it would be ready for use. Charged it again in the am, then used the weed wacker. Did not even get 15 minutes of use. Put the battery back on the charger, it's still charging almost 3 hours later. This battery is NOT a fast charger. My husband says the trimmer cuts cuts well, but he cannot tolerate having to trim our property by hand, especially when it's 85-97 degrees outside due to the inefficiency of the product. Unless we are doing something wrong with the battery, this product is being returned. Very disappointing, and we don't want to have to purchase several other new batteries for the small yard that we have.
