Description

I work in the northeast and it can be pretty gloomy in the spring. The light is great. It is built very well and seems like it will last for quite some time. On high it is very bright (5000 lumens). Too bright to look at. It will last most of the day on a flexvolt 6ah battery in the brightest setting. I haven’t tried the dimmer settings yet. The hang hook on the bottom is great I usually just hang it off the strapping over my cut station. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have an ac plug on it for when power is readily available.

The area light has been a great tool for almost all indoor jobs. Has several great features such as the eco mode. Light has great run time on 20v batteries. Extremely bright white light on highest setting. All 3 brightness settings have there place on the job site. A great plus is the tool connect option. No need to go to the light and change settings, just do it right from phone. Light comes with 2 easy ways to hang or mount the light. Light is rugged and has withstood the job site. Would be a great purchase for anyone needing a great large area light.

The light has a great run time when not at the highest setting around 10 hours. When at the High setting expect to get about 3 to 4 hours of run time on a 6-amp hour battery. The downside to this light is the tool connect. The control stopped working after sitting for three days of non-use and will not reconnect. Had to take it in for support to get the issue resolved. Other than that, this a great light that that can handle job site tough conditions. Would have given this light a 5 star rating if not for the tool connect issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Phoenix Contractor from Not Tripod Compatible As others stated, the base no longer has threaded area to mount to tripod. Extremely disappointing and false description. I bought the light and separate tripod to light up work areas. Returning both and looking at Milwaukee options as they also have corded power option in addition to battery. I was already tempted to go with Milwaukee, but own so many Dewalt tools that it’s hard to justify cut over. Since they also have corded power built into their battery powered light, it will be easier to transition. I own 1 Milwaukee battery, but starting to look at more of their options and migrate over. The light really sent me over the edge since EVERYWHERE it says it’s compatible with the tripod, but actually is not. Shame on Dewalt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by vsch from Great job site light if you have the batteries. I’ve been using it now for 7 months and it is definitely a great light when you need to light up a significant area. Best results are achieved if you can hang it up side down like a ceiling light. For that purpose the Bluetooth remote control is great. You only need to climb the ladder to change batteries. The latter is taxing unless you have 9 or 12 Ah ones. Reducing brightness helps to extend the batteries. We used this light as the main light in a 250 sq ft room for 3 months. 30% brightness was plenty and the 12Ah battery only needed changing once a day.

It is almost too bright to turn on at the switch. Connecting and control with the Tool Connect app was simple and intuitive. Illuminates the work area very well from floor, tripod, or overhung positions. My only complaint, and it’s minor, no plug so it can be used as a corded light. Perhaps another model is on the way with a cord and possibly a speaker?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leo69 from Awesome light! Have been using this light for a few weeks now and love it. Run time is great for the amount of light it provides. Also when working in small rooms being able to go to lower settings is great. When working in a aditic in apartment building I was down getting parts when tool connect let me know battery was getting low. How nice to take a fresh battery with instead of getting up there then a few minutes later having to go back down and get a battery. Heck it's so good I've even had a couple of guys that use other brands borrow it they like it so much!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this light a few months ago for when we have shut downs at work. Super bright and the fold away hook works perfect attaching to scaffolding and grates. The app is very helpful considering it would be a pain to climb a ladder every time I would want to turn it off or adjust the brightness. Now I have full control with my phone. The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars would be the battery consumption. I use the flexvolt 9amp hour batteries and at the max setting I will get about 4 hours of use, not bad but getting a whole shift out of it would be perfect.
