Rated 1 out of 5 by WoodyBrit from Half a dozen cuts per battery I have a blower (awesome), trimmer (perfect) and chainsaw (useless). I have two 2.5 batteries and they each last a few cuts on the saw and they're done. Can't fault the blower as I'll get a good 20 minutes put of it and the trimmer has always lasted longer than I need. I especially love the handle length on the trimmer (I'm 6' 5") as I don't have to stoop at all. EGO really should market that benefit more! However the chainsaw just doesn't 'cut it' unfortunately. I have a large tree that was professionally cut down and I though I'd be able to trim and log it up but at the rate of two batteries lasting 10 minutes its going to take a year of weekends! It has the power while it lasts but don't expect anything more than a log of two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MontereyJake from Better than gas My gas chainsaw recoil starter broke and I can't get parts, so time to buy new chainsaw. I was astounded to find Ego makes a chainsaw. I already had 3 different Ego tools, all sharing a battery, so the chainsaw made sense. This is so easy! Push the button, and pull the trigger. That's it. How do you like starting your gas saw? I got the small 14" bar as it is all I need for little jobs around the yard and beach. The Oregon chain cuts fast too. The 2.5Ah battery is sufficient for me, but others may want the larger battery on the bigger saws. The price is good, it is quiet, and I don't need a separate gas can for fuel. Buy it!

I`m not a pro but most of these were large enough that a 14" saw wouldn`t be considered. The next day I had a hunting trip planned so I decided to take the battery powered saw and arriving before sunrise I was glad I did! A large pine was over the logging road and using the headlights of my truck I carved a gap in the downed tree large enough to get to ATV through and get into the deerstand before daylight! Afternoon I went back and totally cleaned up the roadblock! I`ve done some more cutting and have yet had to re-charge the battery. This thing is well worth the price!

I have 2 1/2 acres of land with 3/4 of that being trees. I wanted to clear some land so I could build my Granddaughter a doll house...well, it worked better than expected, and the neighbours next to me didn't have a clue I was using a chainsaw..it was quiet, quick, and no gas smells anywhere. It cut trees that I first though were too much for it, but it handled it with ease..I had a slight issue, but nothing the support team couldn't handle within a matter of minutes over the phone. I'd give them an A+ on support.

I did a big project last weekend and used one battery. See pictures of my trimming. I used a pole saw to get it down then the chainsaw took over. I went thru 4 oz of lube oil during this cutting, and several cuts from 1/2 inch upto 12 inch branches. The blade came off once but I should of been checking the tension. Cleaned it up and blade back on in 5 minutes

I had several large branches from my oak trees break and litter the property. I was tired of maintaining a gas chainsaw.... they never seam to want to work when you need them. This cut through all of the limbs of the oaks like they were butter. GREAT TOOL..... Easily as good or better than the gas equivalent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WorkshopAddict from Quick, easy and plenty of power In the manual that comes with this saw, it says that it can handle small to medium sized jobs. That is pretty vague, so I put the saw to work right away to see what it could really handle. First off, I cut down a tree that was about 30 feet tall and only about 6 to 8 inches in diameter. This is something that I would call a small tree. The saw ripped right through it and when I started to cut up the tree, I found something out about the saw that I really really liked. Each time you sit the saw down to move logs out of the way, the unit shuts off. I know that should be apparent with the way the chainsaw works, but until I actually used the saw, I didn't realize how great that is. I've always hated sitting down my gas powered chainsaw in between cuts. The gas saw loves to stall and when it does, its a bear to get started again. By the way, I hate, hate, hate, my gas saw (its a cheap starter saw) After the tree was all cleaned up, I noticed my neighbor had some larger logs laying around. He had cut down 10 ash trees this winter / spring that had fallen victim to the dreaded emerald ash boarer which is decimating the ash population in Michigan. He has most of his wood split, but still had some 12 inch diameter logs in about 6 foot lengths. This is where my skepticism kicked in. Could this 14" saw handle a 12" ash tree? The answer is an emphatic, YES. As long as I let the saw do the work and didn't try to push on it, it cut quite nicely. When I did push hard on the saw for a length of time, the saw would just stop. This is part of the saw's overload protection. This prevents any damage to the brushless motor, which is what you want to see. This overload protection also was apparent if I put the saw in a bind and with me, that happens from time to time. Now, I didn't run the battery dead on this test. Since run time is not measurable in my opinion (each condition is different), I just focused on performance. Oh, one thing that I think I should mention, if you have a 4 amp hour battery, the saw will accept that as well. There is plenty of room where the battery slips in at for a larger battery. A couple weeks later, I had to cut two medium sized ash trees down. The biggest was about 16 to 18 inches in diameter. We were using two saws, but the EGO kept up with the gas saw, it just couldn't cut the 16 inch cut with a 14 inch bar. We cut down the trees, trimmed all the branches up and cut both of them up into logs. This took a few battery charges to do, but I was pushing the saw pretty hard. Since I like to turn wood on the lathe, free wood is what I like to look for. With all of these ash logs, I was able to cut about 12 bowl blanks up with the EGO. Cutting lengthwise on a log can be hard on a saw, but the EGO was able to do it with no issue. Here is a video review of what I did with the saw when I first tested it out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Donego from unfortunately chain saw The first time I used saw it ran on and off for about 10 minutes. Then it started shutting off by itself and finally would not run at all. I let it set overnight and tried it again the next. It ran for about 56 sec then just stopped. so I returned item. I used new saw for 5 minutes straight and it ran okay. will update status as I learn more about saw. I have the push battery operated lawn mower and lea f blower and have no issue with either except for the battery on lawn mower had to be replaced. I think they have good products but life deals us lemons sometimes so I am making lemonade. Will hold off recommendation until I can see how the replacement works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by james86 from Perfect for a large property Cuts like gas but is a lot more quiet, battery life is exceptional compared to competitors models, its lighter than a gas chainsaw but still has some good weight to it. The chain does get loose the first couple times you are done cutting because it's new but it's real easy to adjust so just keep an eye on that. The automatic oiler seems to be working well. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. This was my first entry into this brand (EGO) and next I am looking into the string trimmer. If I could make one suggestion to EGO is to put a battery life indicator on the battery so the user knows how much juice they have before going out to the woods.

Thinning out the trees. Every thing from 1in. To 12/15 in. trees. This saw does everything needed for our place. Ordering the the pole saw, and buying the string trimmer. Did a lot of resesrch on battery powered chain saws and string trimmers. Narrowed my search to Stihl, Husquvarna, and EGo. Went with EGo. Tired of the stop, don't run, spit and sputter of gas Best chain saw i have ever used for our purpose, but then again I Like the unconventional. We're Ventrac owners. Love EGo.

PROs: It will cut anything a standard gas-powered chainsaw will - I cut trees 15 inches in diameter and it cuts through old railroad ties and telephone poles. The charge lasts a long time - even the 2.5AH battery lasts 90 minutes. Add a second battery and it lasts as long as I can around the house. The batteries charge fast. It always works the first time - no pulling a starting cord, no gas, no exhaust fumes, no dripping oil. With the battery, it weighs about 60 to 70 percent of what a similar-sized gas-powered chainsaw does. CONs: This electric chainsaw is the loudest one I have. It doesn't require any hearing protection but it is as loud as a blender on full smoothie mode while cutting. Still much quieter than a gas-powered model.

In every aspect, this saw exceeded my expectations. In fact by the end of the day we had drawn quite a crowd of neighbors...all amazed by the EGO's power and ease of use. Highly recommend it!

I had several trees fall in my backyard and had to chop them down to size and did some research online and choose the ego because of its size and power without the mixing of gas. My father in law was using a gas chain saw and the filter got clogged and he was very suprised at the amount power and smooth cutting the Ego provided.

I have cut everything up to about seven inches and it is just excellent. This saw is very well made and I am pleased with the warranty on the saw and battery. We burn wood all winter and I plan to use my EGO for trimming and cutting smaller trees. I also strap it on my ATV when patrolling my property to cut any blow downs etc. along the trail. The only negative I have is the fact that you cannot see the oil level thru the plastic window on the oil reservoir so you really need to keep an eye on it while working.

Probably not for a lumberjack from the North Woods, but for a home owner who needs to cut down the odd tree or limbs works great. I have the 2AMH battery and made nearly 50 cuts on trees and limbs ranging from 10 inches to 5 inches diameter and still had battery power left. Cuts like butter!! Highly recommended along with the rest of the EGO line!

I removed a few medium size branches from a tree in my front yard, cleaned up three medium sized (approx. 6-8 inch trunk, approx. 10 feet tall) trees that fell during a recent storm. Not only did this chainsaw make the job quick and efficient, there was enough juice in the battery to mow over the area where the trees were downed, and use my blower to clean up the area afterward. Amazing!!! The chainsaw has plenty of power, is relatively light weight and easy to maneuver, and is quite quiet when compared to the gas powered variety.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mb2007 from Happy I pulled the trigger on this saw. Haven't got to use it a lot yet but I am very impressed with what I have done with it. I had a 6 inch oak and 5 inch maple that I took down the same day and blocked them. No hesitation. Wish I had it earlier this year when a late season wet snow toppled a lot of maple limbs on my over 100 year old trees. Battery held strong and charged back quickly from half down. Good weight balance, I'm 70 years old and I had complete confidence in using it. The 56 volts certainly supplies all the power I need and wanted. I did throw the chain, no idea why, I tensioned properly before starting. It was an easy fix and has worked great since.

A full charge provides about 30 to 45 minutes of cutting. It takes about 45 minutes to fully recharge. I have cut trees up to 12 inches in diameter with no problem.

Too many years of maintenance on gas saws. This EGO saw is the best I have owned. Power? Oh it's got it and then some. Nice gentle start up and a quick advance to full power makes it great for getting ready to cut. Performance? This saw cut all my trees and wood like a hot knife through butter. Beautiful! No issues with bogging down or losing power. Ease of Use? The weight is so much better than a gas saw and my hand/arm fatigue was minimal after 6 hours of cutting. Something else? One of the best features of this saw is that it is incredibly quiet. No ear protectors needed. The battery life is awesome. I cut tree after tree for a good solid hour before I needed a recharge and the recharge only took 20 minutes. I have 2 EGO batteries so it was a simple switch each time which kept me cutting all day long. Well oiled and smooth and what an easy 'tuning' of the chain tension. All saws should be made this way. Best investment ever!

NOTE: I used the larger battery that comes with the mower for this result. You should buy the mower if you haven't already. This was all accomplished on a full charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skyview Farm from Beats the competition I have several gas chain saws and my most recent purchase was a Stihl commercial saw with 25 inch bar. This 14 inch EGO is an amazing saw. I was considering the Stihl 200 but after reviewing the comparisons, the EGO was by far the best value and it is over 300 dollars less than the Stihl. Also, the 56 volt battery is much stronger than the 40 volt batteries that most other manufacturers use, including Stihl, which I now believe is over rated. I am not saying Stihl does not make a good product, they do, but I believe you pay for the name. There are far cheaper alternatives that, in may opinion, are just as good such as EGO.

Battery fully charges in less than an hour. Much safer than gas because when you’re not actively using it, it’s not still idling with a hot exhaust you can burn yourself on, wasting gas, putting off fumes. With the chain brake engaged, the motor is immobilized, so you can’t accidentally activate it. Plenty of power- it easily cuts hard wood like hickory and oak 6-8 inches in diameter.

We cut back one tree, cut the 1' across limbs to fireplace size (1.5' length) and cut down an 18' tree, 14" across trunk, and cut the all the big stuff for our fireplace and fire pit (including cutting the big logs in half). All this using 2 batteries. Being my second battery operated lawn....anything, I thought it did a fantastic job. I forgot, I first used one battery with my new matching leaf blower, to blow debris from the front porch and leaves from the flower beds that run the total length of the front of the house. Husband was so impressed he wants to use it instead of his gas powered chainsaw. He not laughing anymore at "my little" chainsaw!

It is well balanced, and has a large oil resevoir, no need to keep refilling the automatic oiler. I have had an EGO blower for years, and the 56 volt battery holds up well between charges, which only take 2 hours.

In those three times the chain came off 7 times and each one of them ended without the job done because the battery overheated...and that was with multiple "breaks" to reattach the chain. The 9" pole saw worked better at clearing the small trees than the chainsaw...

I can't believe how light, quiet and powerful this small chainsaw is. It is easy to adjust and clean and put oil into. On one battery charge I made over 50 cuts on different sized limbs and trunks. I cut up a 14 inch diameter 35 ft oak tree in 1 foot increments to use as firewood along with the limbs that fell with it. I know gas powered can be an issue with stale gas and fuel lines rotting over the years as I have experienced both even with trying to run all the gas out before storing. For homeowner use this EGO is perfect!

Rated 3 out of 5 by yocena from I have almost all of the Ego products All the products are good and the batteries need work for the 2.0 Get the 4.0 up front and you will be much better off. I have 3 of the 2.0 batteries and they die to quickly to finish the yard. Chainsaw is great, blow is great, trimer string does not come our when pushing knob on the ground so the are sending a retro kit since a lot of people complained so they are fixing the issue it sounds like. Customer service is great if you can hold a bit. I like the idea and hope they offer an upgrade battery often soon. These 2.0 batteries are great for a small yard maybe but not mine. Need longer power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CW 6400 from It starts when the gas ones won't. After an ice storm last December, my place in Northern Minnesota had LOTS of downed branches and trees needing cleanup this spring. I have several gas powered chainsaws but none of the downed trees were over 12 inches in diameter so I decided to get the EGO 14 inch chainsaw so I wouldn't have the usual "will it start" problem this year. So far I've sawed lots of oak and pine branches up to about 10 inches in diameter and the EGO has gone through them like butter. It has plenty of power and so far the 2.0 amp hour battery has not drained down to the recharge point even though I sawed with it for over half an hour.
