Rated 5 out of 5 by Ohio Jeff from Best string trimmer ever This string trimmer is the best one I have ever owned. It replaced a Stihl battery powered string trimmer. The Stihl was powerful but the tapping mechanism never seemed to work properly and loading the string was very frustrating. The EGO trimmer with powerload is fantastic. It has more power than the Stihl and is far easier to load and to use. Push the string through the trimmer head until you have equal lengths on both sides then push the button just above the head. The string automatically loads! I LOVE this feature. As you use the trimmer, the string automatically feeds out to maintain the same length. I can't recommend it enough!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RPNoon from Ego - Our Yard Tool Brand [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used Ego Power tools for a few years now, and they are they only brand we will buy. We have the Ego mower, blower and now the string trimmer as well. Not only do these tools look nice, they are powerful and work exceptionally well. We have purchased tools in the past that only last a year or so, but these continue to perform. The string trimmer is the expected weight and easy to use. This gets the job done right the first time and has an easy-to-charge battery/charger. We will absolutely continue to use the Ego brand and would recommend this trimmer (and their other products) to anyone looking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jess H from very happy I bought the ego trimmer 4.5 years ago and loved the power and weight. The self string loading broke and is in the getting fixed for free. Because of down time I bought the new 16" IQ string edger and tried it today and I am in love. I am thinking this is a little more powerfull and noticed I was on lever 1 not 2. uses .95 instead of .80 string. I really love the easy telescope shaft. In 1 second you can make it fit all size. I love it!!!

On low setting(I really don’t need high), the battery has gone for well over an hour before I stuck it on the charger. It wasn’t dead yet by the way. The not having to constantly bump it for line is awesome. The auto feed of the line is awesome. I have already told everyone I know about this item and have let my friend use it on his yards so he could see how great it is. Honestly at this point it’s one of the better purchases I have made. Just bought the leaf blower and will be replacing all of my gas items over time.

A little heavy on the battery end of course but I did not have to restring the trimmer as I would have on my old trimmer.I did not think I would have bought it the day I did account I was looking for a gas trimmer such as my old one.Glad I made the choice saving gas and so far NO hassle with the trim line a very Big plus! On the handling end of the trimmer I wish the OPTIONAL strap to help carry it and distibute the weight was included with the purchase.But what does the little man get from BIG Brother. Over all 5 stars for stringer,power,and over all use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fmiddl from EGO String Trimmer with Line IQ with Battery Best trimmer I have ever owned. The automatic line feed works great. My old trimmer string would jam up every 6 to 8 feet. This has saved my back and cut my trimmer time in half since I don't need to stop and fix jams. I have a 3/4 acre lot and the battery still had some charge left in it when I finished. It took me about 45 minutes to do my yard. Recommend picking up the strap. For the price the strap should come with it, especially since they supply the bracket for the strap with the trimmer. I haven't tried the powerload function yet because it comes with string loaded in it and an extra string to load when you run out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 88mj from String trimmer Overall it works OK. However unlike my other ego tools this one is definitely less powerful than my previous gas powered trimmers. When trying to trim around a smaller obstacle, the line wraps around it and it pulls out a bunch of line. The line IQ seems to keep feeding the line out and I like not having to bump the bottom to load more line. I think it will be OK but when trimming around things, because it grabs and pulls out a lot of line, I fear it will waste a lot of line. Not sure how it will do on thick grass and weeds because the grass has not grown that much yet. I really like my ego mower and blower a lot, but the trimmer is just OK so far.
