Is the head on the ego st1520s interchangeable with the lawn edging head?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Johnny Mariakakis from Best investment I ever made I have owned three gas powered string trimmers in my life, and being very frustrated with the last one I ventured to purchase this new electric Ego Power string trimmer. I am IN LOVE with this new trimmer! It makes much less noise, starts immediately with a press of a button and no struggling with a choke and pulling a start cord. It's much lighter than my gas trimmer, and has MORE power, and the auto feed of the string line is a blessing and saves me a lot of time (and profanity). I wasted so much time restringing my old gas trimmers and this Ego Power does the job in SECONDS! I HIGHLY recommend this trimmer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have all the Ego tools from chain saw to snow blower even had the string trimmer but decided to splurge on the new POWERLOAD Carbon Fiber. Great tool except the engineers who signed off on the variable speed trigger must not use string trimmers much. The new trimmer is not really variable speed like the old model. The new one is basically two speeds - fast and faster with nothing much in between. The thing I liked most about the old one was the slow speed variable control for going around fences and flowers. If I knew the new model was not as capable when it comes to variable speed would probably not have purchased it. Hoping for a fix.

You have to baby this product. #2: The battery does not come close to the performance marketed here. Mine is dead in less than 5 years. It never ran for the promised 40 minutes before it needed a charge. I will say for the 20 minutes it did run between charges, it is every bit as powerful as your average gas-fueled trimmer. So that's in the plus column. Like all string trimmers, loading new string is a huge pain in the butt. The main reason for my low score is the value proposition. The product promises a lot, and charges a premium, but in the end doesn't deliver. That's a mortal sin for a product.

I originally tried to put the 2-part shaft together and immediately broke the flimsy plastic piece that is supposed to hold the 2 halves together. I screwed too hard or what. I saw the carbon shaft on tv that was keeping two walls apart, so what the heck are you using plastic in the middle. And why is it 2 pieces anyways. Can’t ship from China or what. I thought the whole idea of this product was to keep it simple for klutzes like me. Apparently not. Now it is broken—do I see a support link on this web page or not. NO! what a frigging joke. time to buy some gorilla tape.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sore thumb from not happy at the moment the first time I used it one side of the string broke off inside the head with in 2 min of use the two tabs you have to push to release the lower head either I am doing it or you have to have the strength of a gorilla to use two days latter my thumbs are still sore once I rewound the line and started use I again I found one of the string advanced well when you tapped it the other side did not advance at all my thumbs were to sore to attempt disassembly again so I just put the trimmer in my garage before I broke something not impressed I have the ego self propelled lawn mower and the leaf blower the both work excellent I got the ego trimmer to keep the batteries all the same now I wish I had not done that

Rated 2 out of 5 by Relentless from Bad experience! The trimmer worked great until the string needed to be advanced. Bumping the head while running did not work. When i tried to take the dead off it would only come off on one side. The tab on the other side would not release. I called customer service and waited an hour on hold until finally giving up. I left a message an they called me back at 6AM the next day. I missed that call and called them back. This time i held for 2 hrs. before giving up. They called the next day. Devon said to send him proof of purchase and he would send me a replacement head. I do not have the necessary tool to remove the old head assuming i am ever able to get it off. I sent the proof via email on 8/14, Friday. I have heard nothing since.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MarkTh from Great tool! Almost perfect I love this weed whip! I have 3/4 of an acre with a lot of landscaping and I’ve done it twice without charging the unit. The ergonomics on it are great. I cut grass professionally for a few years and this is the same form factor and performance of a professional weed whip. The weight reduction from the carbon fiber is noticeable. I highly recommend it. My only nit-pick is that a good gas weed whip has more throttle control at the low end. I like to edge around my beds at low speed to minimize the grass I throw into my beds. It’s hard to find and maintain as low of a speed here as I can with my gas trimmer. (which is headed to the curb!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dezinerdad from Almost Perfect Almost perfect! I recently replaced by Echo trimmer with this Ego Power+ 15" trimmer and was very impressed. Trims weeds and tall grass with ease does a fantastic job. The battery lasts a long time and the string head is simple and easy to reload. Almost perfect. My only complaint and it's a small one is that the variable speed trigger is not easy to control. The trimmer is either on full speed or off I find that a bit disconcerting but have managed to work through it with a sponge between the body of the trimmer and the trigger. It give more resistance and helps when trimmer in in high or close areas that take more control.
