does the mower increase speed when encountering longer grass

Yes, I have noticed this happen in taller or thicker grass, although I just back off slightly and then it returns to normal speed.  I otherwise have no concerns or issues as I have owned an EGO mower for over 8 years.

What is the life expectancy for the 56V 6Ah battery

I have an Ego lawnmower, snowblower and leaf blower with a total of 2chargers and 3 batteries.  All have lasted for 4 years so far with no signs of imminent failure, although they have lost about 10% of their capacity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WarrenS from Easy to use So far I am loving this mower. I recently had shoulder surgery and am still limited using only my right arm. Once I got the rhythm of working the drive and blade switches with one hand, I found it was rather easy to navigate the mower around the yard. It is lighter than my gas mower so I have no problem going either in straight lines or around objects. The few times I’ve used it, the usage times were around 45 to 50 minutes and still had two bars left on the battery indicator so one hour of use is definitely possible. This is a nice mower so far and hopefully l can get many years of use from it. No gas, no oil and no pull starting. I like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Raceral from Greater Than I Expected Compared to my 21 year old Honda SP this unit is like it floats on air when in use. Very pleased with it so far, my yard is about 4500 sq feet of grass with some inclines. First time I used it I mixed self propelled and push mower 50/50 on height setting 4. The battery still had three bars left. My next mowing was with the height setting at three and all SP, at the end the battery still had 2 bars left. This was all done mulched. I really like the fact that it stands up and one can clean under the deck after use with a simple bristle brush, not an easy task with my old gas mower. Feels very light yet solid. Quite happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bumps from Extremely Pleased Great mower! I've used it 3 times now, the first 2 I used the bagger as the grass was a bit longer and the last time I mulched. It works flawlessly both ways and even using the self propelled mode doesn't drain the battery. I've got a small country property, about a third of an acre and was able to do the whole thing both times with the bagger on a single charge and the last time mulching barely used a third of the charge. The mower is very well built, super easy to setup and use and a breeze to store with the complete fold down and upright position. When you fold it down and stand it up you can still wheel it into it's final destination.

If you want the easiest, fastest to use and best electric mower on the planet this mower being one of the lightest weight self propelled units made that can do most any average city yard will suit your bill perfectly. It not flashy only comes with the one blade system but it works great for the average home user. If your used to your normal gas mower controls this is as close to the same operating system as it gets! I have a 1/3 of an acre yard that is hilly with dense wet weed in the lower half back yard and the provided 6.0 is just big enough to conquer the whole yard on one charge. I own may EGO products and cand recommend this mower enough!!!

My last gas powered mower had front wheel drive and helped when going up my sloped backyard. My POWER+ 21", at the highest speed, needs NO ASSISTANCE from me. I just need to keep up. I was fearful that with the amount of property I need to use the self-propelled feature that the battery wouldn't last long enough to cut the whole yard but that has not been the case. My only complaint is with the registration process. It needs to be more instructive for the purchase of mower, battery & charger combination. No place does it say to use the model number from the box instead of the numbers on each item.

The brushless motor delivers up to 50 minutes of runtime (which is perfect for our small size backyard). It’s quick to set up and easy to use. It came in a big box well protected from damage. This lawn mower offers precise cutting height positions from pretty short 1.25 to 4 inches. The high positions are easy to adjust. I like that it also has a side discharge. One of its great features is bright LED lights! It’s made from great materials and my wife loves it because it’s easy to push.

I had a Ryobi first, but it failed on two accounts: the 40V battery was not as strong (long-lasting) as the Ego's, such that I had to buy a second (and getting the 1/8-acre lawn done with two was still a challenge, all the more so since the Ryobi batteries don't charge when just depleted and warm). Also with the Ryobi, the metal handle easily wore through the plastic body, and no number of adaptations and home fixes could cure it. The Ego, so far, has been great: one battery makes it through my yard with charge to spare, and the handle/body construction appears to be much better thought-out. I've only used it a few times, so we'll see how it lasts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Scorpionx73 from Im Not gonna return it, but it isn’t perfect. Same power as gas, but with a few issues. The front overhangs the cutting area by about 7-8” which means your always going to need to get your trimmer out when your finished mowing, as there will be sections in corners you can’t reach. The self propelled system doesn’t disengage the wheels when you let off the throttle, you have to keep moving forward another few inches for that to happen, so you find yourself constantly dragging the mower back, rear wheels locked because they’re still engaged to gears. You have to remember to let go of the handle before you reach the end of the cutting area, push forward a little bit more, then they are unlocked. Battery life is good, power is good.
