Fertilizer for New Grass - 4.7 kg is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 184.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from this product has great features sorry I have used scotts grass seed many times but this time I had a large area and no time to wait for it to grow so I had to buy sod but after installing it I used scotts starter fertilizer for new grass.I had a few leftover pieces and I put them on my shrub bed which is filled with goose egg rocks, so I laid the sod right over the rocks and fed it starter fertz. low and behold I had to cut the grass 3x with my trimmer and its still looking great in the winter.great great product. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I use this every year to give my lawn a jump start so it looks great. I also use this when I plant new grass and it comes up within one week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product. Picture is worth a 1000 words Spread on my new struggling hydro-seeded lawn. After 4 days, the areas I covered are very green with more grass. You can see the areas I missed in the photo. It was hot and I wasn't paying attention. Can't wait to use Scotts weed and feed after the new grass matures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Stuff! We decided to plant seed in our yard instead of sod. Not being too aware of how to go about this, (not aware of how horrible the soil is here) I tilled up the soil last year and put in the seed, after about half a year, it grew up very slowly very short length not doing much... I was getting very frustrated, about ready to give up and just get sod. I went to the store and found this starter food and thought I'd give it one last try.. All I have to say is WOW! My grass started getting length and filling in and it looks awesome! I am so glad I decided to try it and save a lot of money on not buying sod! Thank You Scotts!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great - but... I'm replacing my "dead" lawn, spreading the topsoil, seeding, covering, etc. on my own. After work, I spread soil and seed about 150 - 200 sq feet a day (oooh to win the lottery and pay someone to do this! LOL) My dirt supplier reminded me to be sure and fertilize, since I'm using the 3:1 topsoil mix. I have ZERO experience doing this, and the Lowe's reviews/google/knowledge of my dirt man are responsible for my success! At the time, I'd already planted, and had a solid 3" turf on about 500 sq feet when I used this with the handheld spreader. It was a Thursday evening - we've had a serious drought here in WA state, and of course, what happened on Friday? 2" of rain. I was coming unglued - worried the new seed and my fertilizer were washed away... Well, by Monday - HOLY SMOKES - that turf was ROCKIN in an even deeper/richer green than before. Rye is pretty green, but it was SUPER green. <insert happy smile here> and the turf that was a month old is now VERY thick (2 weeks later). I can definitely see a difference! Soon after fertilizing (5 days), the newly planted seed was popping through the topsoil/peat mix used to cover the seed, but the seedlings were ... pink. Yup. Pink. THAT was interesting - esp. for a newbie like me. I figured "Well, it'll green up..." and it has - took about a week. Apparently this is not uncommon. Some of the seedlings, after a week, are green green green, and some are still pretty light as the color comes in - but the pink is going away. I didn't use a push spreader because I don't want to mess up the soil I just put down - so I've resorted to the hand spreader. Admittedly (wearing gloves) I have sprinkled with just my hands (gently) into some very tricky areas (probably not recommended by Scotts...) With the hand spreader, I just have to be careful to ensure it's evenly distributed as best as possible. (Mind you - that hand spreader is going to dump a wad here/there when you finish/re-start with a newly loaded spreader - but I can't see that it's caused any issue.) I wish there was an easier way to do this - but it could be a lot worse... I highly recommend this product. Used on existing new grass (at the time, about a month old and 3" high). I've also spread it on top of the topsoil/peat mix used to cover the seed, and I've also put it down over the dirt/seed before covering with topsoil/peat mix - all three methods have worked just fine. I've included an image of the "Pink" grass

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get Ready To Mow Maryland had an excessive amount of rain in 2017-2018 which led to a lot of soil damage and grass damage. My usual fall planting with soil amendments worked OK but in Maryland you get used to planting seed every fall. I saw Scott's Turf Builder Starter for new grass and gave it a try in the fall of 2018. Results were good but winter set in and growth stopped. I then went out on a limb and tried a winter sowing along with an application of Scott's Starter food. I didn't expect much of a success rate but as soon as Spring showed up, my grass growth exploded. Grass grew where I thought is was impossible and grew it did. I don't know what Scott's secret is but this stuff works, almost too good. I usually mow once a week but now have been mowing twice a week. Expensive but it sure delivers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from MANY PROBLEMS***WILL NEVER USE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!! When using this product it clogged our spreader many times and we had to unload the spreader, clear it, refill it, and start over. When it would come out of the spreader it was a dust and we are not sure how evenly it was spread on our lawn or where it was blowing to. It also covered both the tractor and the spreader in the dust which lead to a considerable amount of additional clean up time and the waste of the fertilizer. Too many problems with this product and definitely not worth the effort. We will never purchase or use this starter again, A huge waste of almost $100.00. Rated 5 out of 5 by from PRODUCT SAVED OUR NEW SOD We are first time home owners with lawn irrigation and after our initial sod was laid we started having issues with the lawn dying. Not from overwatering, just bad sod. We decided to try Scotts for the first time and at first felt like the product wasn't working and second guessed our decision. Fortunately I changed the watering to evening and withing a week our yard was looking fantastic. Another week later it was even better. Very very happy with this product. Our lawn is the greenest green. Just used the Wintermix, and hoping for similar results.
