Description

This Fiskars soil block maker creates blocks of soil for seed starting, producing healthier seedlings and reducing the need for disposable seed trays and pods. The soil blocks promote the formation of strong root systems, while preventing seedlings from rooting. This reduces transplant shock, while providing more efficient absorption of water and nutrients when plants are transferred outdoors. The structure itself ensures proper soil compression, guaranteeing each block of soil the right amount of air, moisture and perfect consistency. Very easy to use, directions are clear and simple to understand on the box. Usually I get rockwool cubes or soil cubes so I tried this with some soil and it works great. My only con, which is not a bad thing is that it makes seedling starter a bit bigger much bigger than the rockwool cubes or soil seed starters but I just used the tray those usually come with just without the inserts and I think the upside is I will get to put directly into a 5 gallon pot instead of a one gallon but I do recommend. I feel the quality is really good and it also is very durable. Easy to clean and not to bulky if you want to store on a shelf

I usually but the expanding soil pods for my starters. This is so interesting. You can make one bigger block or use the insert and get four smaller ones. You just park your soil in the end then press the plunger to dislodge the pod. I just wish there had been a slip of paper with directions. I had to get the box out of recycling to figure it out. I can’t wait to get planting!

Rated 4 out of 5 by dlb82 from Good for Use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This soil block maker is really good if you want to make a block and stick it in the ground, but if you have trays, they will work just as well and you put more effort into them later when transplanting. As for the block and soil, it has to be super moist and stick together to make it work. It does make a nice size block which can also be cut into smaller blocks with the insertion tool. Overall a good quicker way to plant directly to the ground.

It's quick and easy to use giving you as many soil blocks large or small you need. It's as simple as wetting your soil packing it in the large soil block maker or the 4-1 smaller soil block maker. Easy to change from large to smaller.nYou just need to make sure your soil is wet enough that when you pack it on the block maker moister comes out the holes at the top. This is a fantastic garden helper.

I think the small block maker insert is better than the larger block maker. The key seems to be the soil or dirt you use. Some soil doesn’t work perfectly. The device seems well made and the small block maker piece firmly locks inside the larger device. For the right person who wants to make perfect soil blocks easily, you will really like it.

We love flower gardening at my house and we were excited to give this a try. The process is so easy and the results are great. You simply decide what the size of block that you want, fill it with soil and make your block then insert a seed of your choice and wait for it to grow. This is going to save us a lot of money by starting our own seeds!

I really love that I can make soil blocks for my seedlings without starter trays. That can be very wasteful. These blocks allow for stronger root systems and the roots do not become root bound like the seedlings planted in the starter trays. It is also easier to transplant the seedlings for healthier plants.

This works amazing. I fill it right up it gets nice and packed. I dropped my seeds in now I wait. It is very easy to clean and not much of a mess. I have a few friends there wifes plant like I do.
