I’m floorings basement in an old house that gets regular dampness. It’ll be a storage area mainly. Can I put plywood directly on top of dmx

Asked by: Thomas 888
Yes you can.  That’s how I used it too, no issues. Just make sure you install it correctly, using the tape. You’ll need to screw the plywood too.

Can wall framing be on top of the dmx air flow?  Or the the the dmx air flow needs to install around the wall’s framing?

Asked by: Doug67
Simple answer is no. You want to frame your walls to the floor every time and then run the DMX up to the bottom plate after you finish framing.  You can seal the gaps with a subfloor vapour tape that comes with it but you will need more then is provided.

Can you install Interlocking Heritage Mill Cork Flooring on DMX Airflow. Specifically 13/32 thick, 11-5/8 inch wide or 5-1/2 inch wide cork floor planks.

Asked by: MJM66
Hello: DMX Airflow has been designed for laminate, engineered hardwood and WPC and SPC vinyl plank flooring. We have not tested our underlayment with this type of flooring, as cork is typically used as an underlayment. At the moment, we are unable to provide an answer to your question. Customer Care DMX

Can I put an underpaid over the DMX underlay?

Asked by: Jackie 24
I'm dealing with this issue right now. We like the cushiness of underpad under carpet and are choosing to put underpad between the carpet and the dmx despite dmx actually NOT recommending to use the carpet pad. However, because of the added thickness of the pad the carpet tack strips on the perimeter are too low and it is proving difficult for the tack strips to hold the carpet. So now, I'm ripping little strips of plywood to place (and glue) beneath the carpet tack strips to bring them up higher so that they can properly hold the carpet. I was not planning on doing this. I can't speak to how cushy or not firm the carpet would feel directly over the DMX but we are choosing for more cushioning at the expense of more work.

I have purchased Premium Vinyl flooring for my basement laundry room. Can this product be used under the vinyl to support the weight and movement of the Washer/Dryer?

Asked by: AndrewB1980
Hello AndrewB1980: DMX Airflow was designed for use with laminate and engineered hardwoods of 8 mm or greater, Carpet, and certain vinyl planks which are wood plastic composite (WPC) or a stone plastic composite (SPC) and both these vinyl’s must be 5 mm or greater. DMX Airflow has a compressive strength of 8000 pounds per square foot or 55 pounds per square inch, to see if the object can be used on or product you will need to follow these steps; • Find the weight of the object. • Find the area of the object that will be touching the floor (square inches work best) • Divide the weight by the area and if the number exceeds 56 pounds per square inch then you will need to find a way to dissipate the weight (coasters). • Also you should check with the flooring manufacture to make sure that they recommend this type of installation as well. We are installing the DMX in our basement utility room and wanting to use peel and stick tiles over top of the DMX underlay. Will this work okay?

Asked by: nroussy
Hello Nroussy: DMX Airflow has not been designed for peel and stick vinyl tiles. WPC (Wood Plastics Composite) or SPC (Stone Plastics Composite) vinyl plank flooring with a minimum thickness of 5mm can be installed directly on top of DMX Airflow. Customer Care DMX

Can shorter length of DMX be used to cover longer runs. If so how is one end joined to next? Tape?

Asked by: Paulindoon
It can be done! Just lot of work and taping. Yes tape would be what you use to join the ends. The tape is provided with the rolls of DMX if you buy it at Lowe's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only good if your installing Carpet! Purchased DMX subfloor (9 rolls) as I wanted to install LVP (luxury vinyl plank) in my basement. Basement slab is perfectly level. I purchased the LVP from a local flooring company, the product is high quality and cost me $4k. Unfortunately after the installation I noticed that almost every butt joint would click and come apart. I have installed a lot of flooring, myself and my crew installed the flooring correctly. The underlayment has too much play for a drop and lock LVP. I would also not recommend a floating engineered hardwood as there is too much risk. If your going to install carpet you would be fine with this product, otherwise be warned. Spend the extra $1/ft2 and buy an actual subfloor or install 3/4" OSB over top of foundation drainage board, same result but more economical. I highly regret installing this product, especially after all of the effort and money it took to finish my basement. Unfortunately if you remove LVP after installation the joints get damaged as the product is thin. So essentially I am stuck with butt joints that don't lock together and click because I don't want to waste another $2k-$4k damaging the LVP to pull it up. I also should note this is the very first review I have ever written, I felt compelled to warn people of my mistake.
