Mine did the same in the second year. I called the company and was told that there is a buy back program. I'm applying for it now. Hopefully I can get some money back. In your manual is a ( 1 800 944 9044) number you can call and talk to a rep who will send you buy back form.

I don't think pints are referred to as old and new. Perhaps you mean Imperial (larger) vs. US (smaller) pints. I have not measured it but since the main market for these machines is the US there is a good chance that they are using US pints. I can say that the capacity is very large and the tank takes a long time to fill. If the tank was any bigger it would be too awkward to carry to the sink to dump it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by EC blues from Error code EC after 1 year [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Research before purchasing Frigidaire dehumidifier model FFAD5033W1 ( I assume other models as well). After1 year (almost to the day) an error code of "EC" appears. Apparently this is a known manufacturers defect that cannot be repaired and they refuse to honor warranty 2 weeks over warranty period. This is not acceptable with an ongoing known defect. Online chat and phone customer service would not allow me to speak to anyone that can possibly help. They suggested I buy another unit. I typically do not write negative reviews of anything I purchase but this rubbed me the wrong way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by StephC from Great! Until it breaks. I bought this model under two years ago; was working great, had clear features, until it suddenly stopped and gave an 'EC' error. I didn't even run this dehumidifier very strongly, and I took good care of its maintenance. After troubleshooting it, none of the user manual suggestions worked which meant the whole unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. After contacting Frigidaire I was told the warranty was one year and they would do nothing about it. Extremely disappointed, especially for the cost of this product; under two years of use is unacceptable. Faulty electronics happen, but I wish Frigidaire would take responsibility for it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by gwha from Lemon - should be a recall I read the reviews. I took a chance anyway. It worked well, when it worked. It worked great. Then it got the dreaded EC code, 11 months later. I tried for a month to get it working, based on information support provided in some of their responses. "Unplug, restart, let it sit, clean the filter, check the power etc..." No luck. Submitted a claim. By then the warranty had expired by 2 days. They won't even call me back. There used to be a 5 year warranty on the sealed system. Then it was changed to one year. Hmmmmm. Should have been a recall, it's a design defect. Hundreds of have reported the issue. Way to support your product Frigidaire.

I had to wait on hold with Frigidaire/electrolux to speak with a customer service representative for over an hour on both occasions. Each interaction was horrible, and I did not receive clear instructions. I received a "buy back form" which I've submitted but don't have high hopes since I cannot locate my original receipt (the ONE receipt I don't file). Looking through reviews online - apparently this is common for this expensive unit to only last a couple months. Wish I did more research before purchasing. Definitely do not recommend

They work well at first, both quiet and efficient, but this one only lasted about 8 months of actual use. It appears the internal system is poorly constructed and the refrigerant slowly leaks out, resulting in bottom coils icing up and ultimately the terminal EC code. As demonstrated by numerous other similar reviews, the company is well aware of this problem but has not done anything to correct it. Throwing out a dehumidifier every year is both costly and extremely damaging to the environment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 5155 from piece of junk Compared to my old 70 pint unit this unit is junk. you can really tell it was made in china. my old unit had a good solid feel to it, this one feels like it was made from tinfoil. 2nd. the design is ridiculous. all the controls face the back of the machine, so when you are standing in front of the machine, normal operating position you have to read everything upside down. 3rd. the bucket that catches the water is designed so that it is impossible for a person with only one operational hand to operate it. My old 70 pint unit was a dream to operate. This is an extremely poorly designed and made piece of equipment I recommend no one buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by gtech from 2 Years in, icing up told to go find someone else to fix it This unit was a replacement unit for the last one that gave out in only 2 years time, and now this one is icing up, the room temp is well above temp it should be to run fine. So I called them and was told this only had 1 year warrenty and to go find a shop to fix it. All I can say is this used to be a company that made quality products and I have stood by their name over the years, but after 2 dehumidifiers and 2 ACs from them that stopped working properly I am done! I will never buy another frigidaire product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jack Warsaw from An exceptional machine at a great price point [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this unit to replace a high capacity dehumidifer from a different manufacturer. The Frigidaire knocked the humidity in my basement down from 65% to 45% in a couple of hours. That's pretty impressive. Setting the dehumidifier up to drain directly into the floor drain was ridiculously easy. There was no fighting to get to the hose connection and nothing special that had to be done except to unscrew the cap. If I ever decide to use the bucket instead, going back will be just as easy. The location of the filter and its ease of removal makes cleaning it when necessary a piece of cake.
