This fridge is replacing one that was built in around it. Is there enough air circulation for the fridge from the bottom? Maybe a bit of air from the sides.

Asked by: Bbonadie
Hi, Bbpnadie! Thank you for your inquiry. After researching, we were able to see that the minimum clearances required for adequate circulation are listed as follows: Back - 3", Sides - 3" and Above - 3". We hope this information was helpful to you. -Ciara

What is the difference between thermoelectric cooling and compressor cooling?

Asked by: merlot
Compressor Cooling: A vapor compression refrigeration system (which is the same technology used for air conditioners) relies on a coolant gas (a refrigerant) to carry heat from inside the unit and expel it externally. *Powerful cooling system. Not susceptible to environmental stress. More parts, more noise. Thermoelectric Cooling: an electric current is sent through two pieces of metal that have been joined together. Because the two sides of the device are made of different materials, a heat flux is created and heat flows from one side to the other. One side gets hot while the other gets cold. The element device itself has no moving parts, it is often combined with fans on the interior and the exterior to ensure sufficient air circulation and ventilation. *Less parts less noise, but doesn’t work as well in warm ambient areas. If needed, please contact our customer service team to discuss further by calling 1-800-265-8352 Mon-Fri, 8am - 8pm (EST) Sat, 9am - 6pm (EST) Kindly, Anna

Frigidaire(R) Wine Cooler - 38 Bottles - 21.5" - Stainless is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 128.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a good, quality unit I'm very happy with this purchase. The unit was easy to set-up including changing the direction the door opens. It is so quiet, I had to stick a outside temp monitor inside to see if it was working. I did read in one review that the shelves can be difficult to manage especially when full. I agree this is a design flaw. Manageable since a wine cooler isn't designed for constant use like a refrigerator. When I was shopping, I grew frustrated by no obvious good solution. All wine coolers receive mixed reviews. I was tempted to not go through the frustration and disappointment. I'm glad I bought this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How to load the fridge..(45 bottles) I see a lot of people complaining about the shelves, mainly how they don't pull out when they have bottles. You just need to reverse the shelves. The way they seem to preinstalled, they have a lip that catches on the rails. Just turn the shelves 180 degree's. Regarding loading bottles onto the shelves, you should be able to fit 7 per slide out shelf, 45 bottles in total. Load bottles on alternate slats with one bottle slid all the way to the back, top facing forward, with the next bottle slid towards the front, bottom facing forward.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fridge for the price We were looking for a 2-temperature zone chiller with a lock and this fit in perfectly. It went great for our butler's pantry & the design is simple and easy to operate. The wine stays in perfect temperature. Couple of cons: The temperature only varies from 44-54 in the lower zone and 54-60 in the upper zone. If you have an open bottle of wine, there's no way to store it in here unless you take out the racks in the bottom but you can set correct temperature. The wood finish is simple but not high quality. The racks don't slide out and in smoothly enough. But for the price we paid, its a great bargain if you can live with the cons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Owned this fridge for less than a year. Set the upper for 51 degrees and the lower for 54 degrees. Both compartments fluctuate and are currently keeping our wine at 60 degrees in each. There is no fan to circulate the air which even some of the cheaper models have. And as other reviewers have mentioned the racks cannot slide out so accessing your wine is a major pain. This demonstrates there was very little thought given to the design of this fridge. Do not waste your money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Frigidaire 38 Btl 2-Zone Wine Cooler Disappoints [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like this wine cooler as it looks great. Unfortunately there are design flaws that make it only marginally acceptable. It is two-zone, but THERE IS NO SEAL BETWEEN THE TWO ZONES! The air flows freely between the two sections making it impossible to keep temps different. In addition, THE RED WINE SECTION IS AT THE BOTTOM. As everyone knows, cold air drops and warm air rises. Why in the world, especially if there is no separating seal between the sections, would you have the reds in the colder section and the whites in the warmer section?? The thermostats for each section restrict how cold you can have each section, so you can't just move the reds up and the whites down. Really poor design planning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bang for the buck unit! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this for over a month now and it replaced an older (different brand) unit. I love the dual temp zones and the clean contemporary lines it has. The backlighting was a must have and it shows nicely in our kitchen underneath a high-top bar area we routinely use. The wood racks are a nice touch and much nicer looking and add a 'polished' look to the unit versus metal racks. The only nuance is that those fatter Pinot Noir bottles are a bit of a squish to get in there...that just means you have to drink them when you bring them home instead of storing them!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Made too much noise! This was the second refrig we had received, both made a huge amount of noise when running. It was easily five time louder then our full size frig. While it seemed like it had good feature, it was simply to loud to keep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problems After One Year I've had this cooler for a little over a year and noticed that the back wall of the cooler is starting to freeze up and there is condensate on the bottles. The door is secured and locked so it doesn't appear to be an open door issue. This unit had mixed reviews when I bought it so buyer beware.
