Rated 2 out of 5 by BryanP37 from Not worth the price I paid I was misled by the appliance store I purchased this cooktop from into believing older style coil cooktops are no longer being made. Not true. Some of us prefer basic equipment over shiny new technology. I've had the glass type style of cooktop in a previous house and did not care for it as I was limited in compatible cookware and they're generally a pain to take care of and easy to scratch. After a months long wait for delivery for the GE, I find exactly what I wanted previously at a local home improvement store by a competing manufacturer. I'll be selling the GE and installing the old style cooktop instead. My bad. I should have done better homework prior to wasting my money on a bad purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by talking horse 1955 from Works well but hard to keep clean This cooktop replaces an ancient GE cooktop we inherited when buying our new house. The old cooktop had a blue surface which didn't show stains or spots easily. The new glossy black cooktop shows every water spot or stain. Other than appearance, the cooktop works well two months after installation. We did have a problem with installation, as the new cooktop was about 3/4 inch thicker than the old GE cooktop, necessitating some alterations in the drawers beneath the cooktop. Fortunately, there was just barely enough extra space to move the drawers (without interfering with cabinets below them) and fit in the new cooktop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shoeless Joe from Upgrade but expected more Working off countertops for a couple of decades so this was not a journey down a different path, just a bit pricier. The five burners are each distinctive enough, offering the opportunity for a variety of cook levels though the layout might be improved by placing the controls nearer the burner it controls rather than in a center cluster. We have always had knobs on the counter, but the biggest issue I have with this cooktop is that cleaning around the knobs is an adventure. When I'm finished, there's no assurance the range is totally clean. After a lurch or two at the start, we have learned to enjoy the range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bicka from Tried and True, a second time around. This GE Cooktop replaces our 20-year (GE) one. A Kitchen accident required replacing it. A small glass bottle fell down onto the Cooktop, right at the edge. It took out a minuscule piece, however the damage was done. The cooktop’s glass started to develop spider cuts over a wide area. Having had the old cooktop for 20 years, and obviously liking it, we went and ordered a GE replacement. Of course this new Cooktop is prettier than the old one. Also, the cooking areas are arranged differently. We are very satisfied with the looks of the Cooktop, and of course cooking on it is a lot of fun! Cleaning the Cooktop with Glass Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner, will keep it sparkling clean!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Warming from Warming zone Why does it have to be more complicated than it should be? Turn the burners on, turn them off! Warming zone, melt, power boil? Just stop!!! STOP over thinking everything and put out a basic product.

GE provides an accessory edge time for 30inch GE cooktops but not 36in such as this one. This is an important omission and detracts form the value of the product

Rated 1 out of 5 by Connie Brown from Stove top I have had GE appliances for 35 years. I cook a LOT. I despise this stove top. Wish I had never wasted my money. A warmer burner is USELESS! I wanted 5 burners for a reason. NOT TO WARM. The burners heat up way too slowly. It is very hard to clean. If I had the money, I would buy something different and get rid of this waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GEsinceMom from Good quality for price So far so good! I added extended warranty because you pretty much have to these days (needed repair to my first, another brand). The Power Boil is a great feature. I agree that the warmer burner wasn't necessary~ would have preferred another 8 inch burner instead of that and the huge "Large Burner" (for canning, etc.) I'll never need. As for its messiness ~ it is. Spatters are everywhere after cooking. The 3-part cleaning kit provided works amazingly well ~ but you must spend 10 minutes after each stove use, and after cooling. I've removed the plastic knobs since they get dirty, as well as under them. This was the same with another brand ~ it's the nature of the glass. Had I known, I likely would not have gone with a cooktop when I built the kitchen (not to mention the difficulty in replacing it). Was aiming for kitchen cleanliness, but must also watch out for crumbs and drips that lodge in small space between glass and counter ~ a design flaw on all cooktops.
