We use it on mode 2 in our bedroom at night, then place it on mode 5 and keep it in bedroom during the day. When you enter our bedroom you would almost describe it as walking into a greenhouse! Buying another for our living room!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BirdsOfFire from Similar to Idylis 193-sq ft except more fan speeds This unit is almost the same as the Idylis 193-sq ft HEPA filter. Same HEPA element, same UVC sterilizer bulb, same carbon cloth pre-filter. And it has the same "filter reminder" labels as this. That does NOT mean that there is a microprocessor that monitors the condition of the filter. It means that they give you a couple of "sticky note" labels that you can put on the side to let you know when you last replaced the filter element. What's the difference? The Idylis has a three-speed fan; this one has a five-speed fan. Everything else is the same. This is a very good air purifier for the money. It has a mechanical ON/OFF switch for both the fan and the UVC light. That means that it is a FAULT TOLERANT air purifier that meets California Air Resource Board (CARB) requirements for Hospitals, Day Care, Pre-Schools, Alzheimer's Care, Memory Care, etc. Why? Because if there is a power outage; when the power is restored, your air purifier comes back ON! Microprocessor controlled air purifiers (including the Consumer Reports Best Buy®) reset their controls as soon as there is a power failure and do NOT come back on after the power comes back on. Great! So, if there is a power outage in the middle of the night, your child with asthma is left sleeping with NO air purifier. Your fancy "Consumer Reports Best Buy®" air purifier is dead until you wake up the next morning and switch it back ON. This air purifier won't do that to your child. Same goes for the other "tower" air purifiers sold by Lowe's. They all get the "Birds of Fire Best Buy" rating for air purifiers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sunrise61 from Do Not Use On Carpet I purchased this product approximately one year ago and placed it in a carpeted office adjacent to our kitchen. The front of the product pulls in the air, purifies it, and dumps the purified air out the back. After a couple months of use, the front becomes caked with dust which can easily be wiped away. But, if you have lighter colored carpet in a room, it stains the carpet around the unit from the impurities that it has pulled in from the air. Getting the stain out of my Stainmaster carpet is impossible. I tried putting a small throw rug under it, and it stained the area around the throw rug. I had to discontinue use in any carpeted region of my home. Also, the replacement filters are expensive. I attempted to clean them with a vacuum to avoid the cost of a new filter, but the suction of the vacuum destroys the first spongy layer of the filter.

I don not wake up feeling like my head is stopped up. They haven't tried theirs yet, but I'm sure they will love them as well.
