Does it work outdoors??

Asked by: Flyin Biscuit
I wouldn’t recommend that; I even have trouble using it indoor when the room is sunny.

GLL3-15 Self-Leveling Three-Line Laser Measure - 50' is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't expect to get a 50 ft line from this. The specs say that this is rated for up to 50 feet, but if you have to layout a straight line on the floor, good luck with getting 50 feet of line. On painted concrete floors at work, we were lucky if we could get 15 feet and still see the line.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay, but light defuses quickly The laser line size at 3' is 1/16" 5' is 1/16" 8' is 1/8" 10' is 1/8" 15' is 3/16" 20' is 1/4" too defused to be useful 25' is 3/8" with no definitive edge to the line

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product but details are poorly executed Great product. Works very well. Like the horizontal and vertical line feature. Nice size. Like the Lock feature to lock in your lines once you attain level. Now as noted elsewhere the instructions are basically unintelligible; if not right-out boring. Now the Laser comes with a number of accessories which are weird ... but they do work once you figure out via the picto-grams and the written instructions how they work ... Why the text is completely separated from the pictures is not helpful. Not only do you get these accessories you get a cool looking Bosch tool bag which the Laser Level barely squeezes into ... and is near impossible to remove. It comes with a velcro belt loop on the back but due to the tightness of the bag its essentially useless. Also where do the three accessories go? You need to keep track of them yourself ... This is a clear miss. It would have been great if they added a bag which allows for easy storage of the Laser Level and its accessories. But it is a cool tool and works well once you figure out how to work it..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Love Hate Relationship I'm a Handyman and the uses seemed unlimited. This level has it all with Level and Plumb with a Plumb at 90degrees..... THE BAD : I thought for Tile I could set this at the edge of the tile or in the corner of the room and shoot 90degree plumb lines, Not so... because the lasers are recessed within the housing the lines will never intersect in a corner forming a square. Its like the laser planes fan out like a paint spray gun fans out from the tip. The most you could do for tile is shoot 1 straight line. A nightmare to align. I thought I would shoot a exact line for taping-off one color of paint from another on a ceiling soffit at the corner (just to see how good a straight tapeline would look). For this I left the level feature locked (not self-leveling mode). It took a ridiculous amount of time to set the laser from one side of the 16' room to the other, then I found I had to set the laser-plane at a angel because my hands were blocking the laser as I was taping (a chalkline/stringline would have been the way). So undaunted to see if this would work it took an additional 15minutes to set it from point to point. By the way I found after I painted, that a straightline in paint shows every flaw of the drywall cornerbead straightness. Now the tool comes with a very useful attachment used for magneting it to metal and has a adjusting gear wheel to fine adjust raise & lower level. But it's missing a side to side fine adjustment. Any slight movement throws the line way off. Another issue is anchoring the tool at the approximate height. I found this out using it to hang drapery rods & pictures. Unless you are in framing stage, there really is no place to set this for a proper level height (steps on a ladder are too far apart, the table or shelf is always the wrong height and your tripod is never tall enough). Is this true level ? I have 2 other cheaper laser levels (I returned the $129Bosch looking for better laser) and I was really wondering why my concrete slab seemed to be at a slight angle everywhere, So I started comparing each laser's level against my 6ft Stabilia, every one of them has there own version of level even changing as they are moved from spot to spot. Now I'm really confused What IS True Level ? Final Analysis The Bosch seems to be a good value for a mid price, missing perhaps a couple of features, but a really handy tool. Hard & time consuming to setup. It's kind of like a Love / Hate relationship, You love it sometimes and you learn to live with it at other times. I think for most uses a $50 Plumb+Level would do it for most everyone. I'm on a quest and waiting for a job to pay for a laser level that Shoots not the 3 planes that the Bosch has but a fourth plane forming a Plumb "T" (not a Plumb 90degree). AND where the plumb planes form 90degree corners without any missing area from a fan effect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I returned this item almost as soon as I opened up the package. A agree with the other reviews that state the instructions are illegible and make no sense whatsoever. The "clamp" that comes with the unit is not usable, or just usable if you happen to be installing a drop ceiling (who does that anymore?). OVER ALL VERY POOR EXECUTION. BOSCH PRICES THIS FOR THE SELF HOME IMPROVEMENT MARKET AND THEN ASSUMES WHOEVER BUYS IT WILL KNOW HOW TO USE IT WITHOUT CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS. DUH! The company should realize that this is probably most customers' first entry into the laser level market and provide appropriate documentation (and clamping device!!). HORRIBLE [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
