Globe Electric's architect lamp is the perfect lighting solution for a desk or nightstand. Its spring-loaded swing arm is easily adjustable, stretching to 28 inches at its tallest, to direct light wherever you need it the most. It is equipped with a long cord allowing you to place the lamp where you need it, as well as a convenient large rotary on/off switch located at the top of the lamp shade. Featuring a black finish, this beautiful lamp has clean, simple lines.

It has an LED bulb and doesn't generate heat so that's a bug plus in the warmer weather. The off/on switch is ideal too. I use it for reading and my laptop keyboard. Great lame and a great price. I highly recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MyNicknameIsDW from When is a swing arm lamp not a swing arm lamp? When they lock the lower set of arms so they can't move. Only the top arms move. You can move the bulb up and down along a fixed arc. However. You are not able to move or extend the bulb horizontally at all. Like you should be able to do with this type of lamp. Very disappointed and I feel a little deceived.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AnonymousEngineer from Lamp works well with some modification Overall, this lamp is solidly built and looks good (metal shade and very few plastic parts), but there are a couple tricks to make it function as intended: 1. To make the lower arm adjustable, you must remove the two lower screws (see photo). Without these, it's up to you to make sure the lamp stays balanced. Globe Electric insists this arm is not designed to move, but on a properly designed lamp these screws are placed to allow the lower arm to move and stop at a safe angle. 2. This lamp is not allowed to spin at all in its base, unlike some other models. The set screw must be removed if you plan to rotate it often. 3. The upper arm may have a lot of spring tension when first purchased. If the clamp is insufficient to hold it at the desired angle or you plan to move it often, try removing one of the top springs. Side note: The bulky plastic switch knob simply lifts off to reveal a traditional, skinnier switch if you prefer (see photo). If Globe Electric sees this review, I encourage them to study a fully-functional architect lamp and revise their design. It could be made fully useable by changing the location of two screws and cutting a wider pivot slot on the base insert.

Rated 1 out of 5 by brawn from Mis-designed or mis-manufactured I agree with AnonymousEngineer in the need to modify it. Even the box shows two different configurations for the basal hinge, and not the version where the offending bolt goes through the inner arm, thereby locking it. Not only that, the bayonet mount of the shade is barely a dimple, so it is easy to dislodge it. No wonder it was on sale!
