Hexagonal HDF Post Cover - 8' - Natural is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great. Quite a bit of work to install. The finished product looks very professional. Installation requires some time and patience. The cover comes in 2 halves that you cut to length, apply glue, then install around the post and hold together with masking tape until dry. The glue and masking tape are not included. After gluing together, drill 2 small holes at the top and bottom of the cover, make sure it's level, then squirt some expansion foam insulation inside and allow to cure (this is what secures the cover in place to the post). The expansion foam is not included. The top and bottom trim are pre-cut into 6 pieces each: The bottom trim pieces are glued and then held in place with masking tape until dry; The top trim pieces are also glued, but need to be either pre-drilled and held in place with finishing nails, or you could use a brad nailer as they are larger and weigh too much to be held tightly together and securely in place with masking tape. It would also be too cumbersome to assemble and hold up the 6 loose pieces (wet with glue) and wrap them with masking tape at the same time. MDF requires primer. I painted the cover after it was glued together on the post, and painted the trim pieces before they were installed onto the cover. I was careful not to get paint on the gluing surfaces of the trim pieces, and masked off the cover where the glue was going to be applied for the trim. This worked well for me and gave it a sharp looking finish. Very pleased with the results.
