Rated 5 out of 5 by TimR from Nice well-built metal vent cover Bought this as a replacement for a 23-year-old thin metal one that had gotten battered over time. This one's much nicer and should last well. Used a cutoff wheel on a Dremel to trim the end to fit. Because I was installing on a wood shingle exterior, I did add some poofy weatherstripping to make up for the odd angles caused by the shingles. My dryer vent has 4 (!) 90 degree bends from dryer to outside, so I was worried, but this operates fine as-is. I did like the fact that I could just remove 1 or 2 magnets easily if it didn't flap properly due to insufficient outflow force, but I didn't need to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SirBuddyGecko from Not for use with bathroom exhaust fan Chose this one to vent out newly installed bathroom fans. Well made and good looking product for sure. Ran the flex duct and cut the fan on only to see the 80 CFM is not enough to open the heavier metal louver. It would probably work with a dryer or exhaust from an HVAC component perhaps. I wish I would have tried it out before having them installed and then having to pay to have them ripped out and replaced with the cheap ones that were 1.5x less money. Wanted to splurge and go fancy for these and ended up doing just that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Woodchipper from Magnets Best design I’ve seen! It will close tightly keeping cool air from escaping when not in use, keep cold air from creeping in during cold weather. Also keeps unwanted critters out. For cold weather I’ll install foam (sealed cell) inside the circular seal to prevent frost /ice build up, the only oversight I see. Ck back in 10 months for results. Stopping undesirable airflow is the major task for a properly designed dryer vent, when that is accomplished, all is covered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NHcold from Sometimes works with a dryer I have an Electrolux dryer on an 8’ horizontal run with one 90 deg bend out of the back of the machine. Vent works as it should in the summer but in the winter, the moisture from the dryer creates a seal with the metal flapper that the dryer can’t break. It’s not frozen shut, just a quick tap With a finger and it pops open. Tried spraying the Foam o ring with Pam and wd40, going to try and install a rubber O ring which I am fairly confident will stop the problem. Awesome vent otherwise.

We need something like this on the sunny southern side of our house near the salt water in south Florida. This should hold up much better than any of the plastic alternatives.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JayBofMa from Just a Tad Shy of Premiere installed this to replace a 60 year old dryer vent that was beyond repair. It appears well built and has a sleek design. I had to widen the cuts in the clapboards as this design is wiser and taller than a standard vent. All seemed promising.Then, I started the new dryer, only to find the vent did not open!? I used a thin tool and verified that the vent would open and was not bound yup on anything. Yet restarting the dryer still did not open the vent. Then, with it opened manually with the dryer running I revived one of the magnets. When I manually closed the vent, the running dryer would not open the vent. I checked the 5 feet of duct an confirmed there were no air leaks; the brand new dryer just did not have the air flow needed to create enough pressure to open the vent. I revived the last of the two magnets intended to hold the vent close when not in use. Then the vent opened and closed correctly with running the dryer. I am disappointed that this design issue was found. I hope that the vent will remain closed when not in use as we continue to use the new dryer.
