Description

The Kamado Joe Big Joe I combines high quality features, with a ceramic grill topped on a premium cast iron cart and locking wheels. At 24 inches wide, the grill lets you show off your cooking skills to friends and family. The revolutionary Divide & Conquer(R) cooking system features multi-level, half-moon-shaped grates, allowing you to cook different foods at different temperatures. The cast iron top vent ensures precise and constant airflow when you open or close the dome. Set the grill temperature from 225 °F for gentle smoking, to 750 °F for searing steaks in no time. Rated 5 out of 5 by 49ers Fan from Joe Jr is amazing Amazing what you can cook on such a small grill. Yes you can BBQ for a family of 4! 4 lb pork Butt, or beer can whole chicken, or 4 New York steaks. I also own a Big Joe 24” and 22” Weber kettle but use this Joe jr grill 80% of the time. The times I’m using the other grills are for ribs or 7-8Lb pork butts. This grill can do ribs if you buy a rib rack and fold them but I have other options when I need the space. My point is this is a surprising grill that can smoke, grill, and make amazing food. Ceramic grills really help keep moisture in the food keeping it juicy with tons of flavor. Great job Kamado Joe for making such a great and economical option!

This is my forth cooker "on staff" , and we so look forward to our week-ends with it. Perfect for empty-nesters like us, but we have fed 6 on one cooking cycle. It was a lot of fun learning to use it, and I still pull out the manual just to help with temperature control. Nothing much is better than soaking in the spa on the back deck, while KJ Jr. surrounds the deck with tasty aromas. Clean up is a whiz, and the idea to reuse un-spent coals is a great tip!

I had to replace my fire box with in a month or two of purchase, the plastic shelves randomly break when not in use, my top ring that holds the entire top to the hinge was just broken one morning when we came out of the house. I have waited months for replacement rings only to get the wrong ones and I also noticed while removing my broken rings that the top ring and fire box are again broken looks like a jig saw puzzle inside. I am the only one to have these issues? Or are they all just junk???? Starting to wish I had purchased a big green egg instead

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheldon from First time Kamado Owner. I was very excited to receive my Kamado. I have always owned a charcoal grill but never this style. I thought it was a good price point to start my Kamado Journey. The first cook was some thick center cut chops done on direct. Amazing cook and flavor from the lump charcoal. I then moved onto a Whole chicken on indirect and it was amazing again. I have done Lamb Steaks, Burgers and steaks. I have not ventured into smoking yet but can't wait to try. It takes a short learning curve to get the charcoal lit properly and adjust the temperature but I am very happy so far. My next experiment will be Pizza , just waiting for my stone.

My wife was hesitant to let my buy my Joe because I already had so many. After the first cook, she said “Ok, I’m glad I let you buy that”. After cooking in the Joe for a while, I got rid of all the other grills. There was no need for me to keep them since the Joe does it all. I don’t even have to bake in the house anymore. No matter what’s cooked on it, it’s amazing!! P.S. Love John Setzler and the Kamado Joe Cooking channel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fisherman from Awesome Grill, manual needs to be updated for Jr. The grill is designed and cooks exceptionally well. The Joe Jr. is the perfect size for our family of 4. MANUAL NEEDS TO BE UPDATED FOR JOE JR (reason for a one star deduction). Currently is does not even have a diagram showing the components included with the Joe Jr. Had to watch videos on You Tube to learn you to use this grill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tom the Guitar Guy from My First Kamado I came from the Traeger Pellet Grill family - thought it was three best since sliced bread... later added a Blackstone griddle... well then if course had to research more into these Kamado type grills... After intensive research through internet, YouTube and more, started narrowing it to the KJ... although I liked the features of the newer models: air hinge, etc..., the lower cost of the Classic I allowed me to buy a ton of accessories.... Long story short, I've had a blast learning the ins and outs of Kamado cooking... very well insulated, easy to get the hang of whether low and slow, grilling a burger, spinning a chicken or making a pizza - my KJ is ang awesome and fun tool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spacetruckin from Excellent temp and consistency Bought this two months ago and have used around 4kg of charcoal (1/2 a large bag of charcoal) already. I light the unit using 4 tiki candles on a stick below the combustion chamber (I remove the lower grate so I can get direct flame onto the briquettes). So far it has worked well! Love the taste you get off of this unit and it cooks pizzas better than my gas bbq. It loses one star for performance due to the cast iron stand handles. If the handles were bent up so the Center of gravity was more balanced while carrying the unit it would receive five stars. With the handles set below Center of gravity it feels top heavy, and a bit tippy if you’re not watching!
