This unit is not designed to be used with a propane burner and we cannot suggest this grill be used as such.

The Classic II have the following improvements: New air lift hinge New firebox (when yours cracks, you'll get new one later so not sure if this one matters) New Latch and gasket New top for vent control. All good stuff. I bought the Classic II last summer, best thing I ever bought.

What do you mean by limited lifetime warranty?!

All ceramic components carry the lifetime warranty for the original purchaser of the grill. Apart from the ceramic parts, you get 5 years on metal parts and 1 year on thermometer and gaskets.

Lack of innovation was the only frustrating aspect to the experience. Along comes Kamado Joe and does what no other manufacturer has done in this price point. From the all in one package concept with cart, side tables, ash and grate lift tools to the divided multi level split grate system that includes ceramic deflectors, no other kamado even comes close. With the addition this year of the oven style gasket with lid latch, multi piece firebox to prevent cracking and the rainproof vent cap it is the cooker to own. The only accessory I can think to add would be the KJ pizza stone. I switched to Kamado Joe four years ago and couldn't be happier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Despite hearing from colleagues and friends about the wonders of cooking on a ceramic egg type grill, I dragged my feet purchasing one. Finally, I made the move once I saw the Kamado Joe on sale at Lowe’s. Well, the KJ is wonderful! Burgers, seafood, steaks ribs and pizza grilled has much more favor. It does take a few meals grilled to understand the amount of airflow needed. However, once you get the hang of it, you won’t use your gas grill again. Also, the KJ has some nice features as compared to the other ceramic grills such as: easy ash removal tray, split grill for vegetables and meals, locking clamp and airflow controls.

NOTHING COMPARES to the flavor produced by our Kamado Joe. We only use the Kamado Joe charcoal because it has THE BEST flavor of all the hardwood charcoals we've experimented with...very unique! WE use our Kamado Joe year-around...and a Kamado Joe Turkey has become a tradition now at our home for Thanksgiving. So delicious! I MOST STRONGLY RECOMMEND this Kamado Joe if you are looking for a ceramic egg style grill. You won't find any better!

I am different than most people, I use my grill at least 4-5 times a week year-round. I have the grill under a covered area, I cook with pretty much any weather condition with rain, snow and freezing temps. I purchased my Kamado Joe approx. 3 years ago, after the first ribeye cook on the Joe my wife said "I don't want anything cooked on the gas grill again". I cook everything imaginable on the grill from fish and vegetables to 12-14 hour cooks with pork butts. After 3 years of real use, the Kamado Joe looks and cooks like new. Love it!

I must say, today I am producing brisket, pastrami, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and pizza that blow people away and rival many restaurants. I continue to marvel at how my Big Joe allows me to create such amazing meals. I love the Kamado Joe Big Lump charcoal as well.

I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like it so I did a lot of researching before deciding. My friend has a BGE so he urged me to get one also. After discovering Kamado Joe I read tons of reviews and watched countless videos comparing KJ & BGE. The things that sold me on KJ were the color (BGE green is atrocious), much better fiberglass gasket vs felt on BGE, the BGE doesn’t come with a stand or any of the extras you get with Kamado Joe, and the Classic Joe II was $200 less than the same size BGE. I ordered my Classic Joe II directly from KamadoJoe.com and they threw in a free bag of big block charcoal and free shipping!! I’ve had it for only a month, but I’ve used it 8 times already. I knew nothing about cooking this way and now I’m turning out great ribs, brisket, steaks and smoked Thank you Kamado Joe for making such an awesome product!!
