I have had to replace all fixtures, appliances, etc, because they use the cheapest when manufacturing to keep cost down. So I have slowly saved to upgrade as I can. One point was having to use counter space for a microwave and the cheep vent hood. I knew this thin microwave was my only solution. I waited and saved. Finally I got it. Installed it myself, and everything turned out great. I have it vented to the outside and could not be happier. I included a photo, not a fancy place, but to show you take time you can you make it home.

It is beautiful and sleek looking. The low profile makes it so much easier to use my large pressure canner, I no longer have to pull my stove out to can food. The fan performs amazingly well and removes all cooking odors and steam from my kitchen. Not only is it a beautiful addition to my kitchen, it cooks, reheats and defrosts food very efficiently; the instructions are super easy to follow. I also love that most of the buttons are hidden from view, giving the microwave a very minimalistic look.

It isn’t big enough for bigger cooking projects, but perfect for me. I’ve gained about 6” or a bit more of space to use my stove better from the classic ones. I can not only reach my back burners easier, this micro gives me headroom to see in the pots and pans cooking, I get to see more of my decorative backsplash AND easier to clean it. This micro looks very nice as well and not ‘blocky’ like the classic sizes available. The only thing I wish this had was a setting for an auto on/off nightlight setting. Otherwise I’m very happy.

I didn't want to fully remodel with a hood because of how much we use the microwave but wanted a new look. This unit did it all! The slim design allows for my backsplash to shine and gives me more cooking space. The ventilation is better than any other unit I've had before and the interior size fits everything I've ever tried to put inside. Casserole pans, popcorn, tall coffee cups. The interior is also nonstick so cleaning is super easy. I can't say enough about this design, it's a must, I'll never go back to the huge clunky style.

It has been set up correctly per instructions (because it come from the factory to return exhaust into the kitchen through filters) so it is configured to exhaust externally. There is exhaust air coming out of the top of the microwave and back into the kitchen. House smells like smoke. This is supposed to have 500cfm, which is a lot if it actually does that. Trying to call Kitchenaid to get help is a dead end, very difficult to get through. Pacific Sales salesman convinced me this exhaust system work great. It does not. I rated it one star because I chose it because it had an exhaust fan.

After about five months of use, we noticed that the text on the "Open" button seemed to be wearing off. By six months, the text was completely gone, and the text on the "Start" button was starting to fade. While the unit is still functioning beautifully, this is a bit problematic since there are three buttons aligned one over the other and now you can't tell them apart. It's a beautifully styled, attractive appliance which has the bonus of allowing tall people to easily see to the back of the range, but I really did expect a little more durability from a Kitchen Aid product.

Compared to before, getting spaghetti or long noodles is a lot easier as there is more room above the pot without hitting the microwave. I was worried it wouldn’t fit my tall mugs - it does fit but still have to watch it to make sure it doesn’t bubble over. In terms of other features, I really enjoy the size of the time display as it is easy to see from far away and the sound of the microwave is great - just loud enough to know something is there but quiet enough that it doesn’t get annoying. Overall very happy with the purchase.

Our home is older and the cabinets are mounted too low for most of the newer microwaves. Due to the dimensions, the microwave would practically be sitting on top of my stock pot. This low profile microwave is attractive and the perfect answer for homes with this situation. However, the letters on the exterior control buttons basically wiped off! There is no way to fix this and Kitchen Aid was unresponsive to both us and the store where we purchased it. We never used a scraper or harsh cleaning products on the buttons. Please find a fix for this Kitchen Aid .... it is perfect otherwise.
