Rated 1 out of 5 by smithabc from Door open button and touch pad not made to last Initially, I liked this product. Good size, looks good. However, the door button started to jam and would take several attempts to open. Then after 3 years of use one side of the touch pad went dead. I would love to have it repaired but have been advised that parts are no longer available (although this model remains available for sale). Hate the thought of throwing out an otherwise working microwave into landfill. Not what the environment needs at this time. Hoping the team at KitchenAid will step up to advise me why I should purchase another KitchenAid appliance and why they continue to sell a model that obviously has serious issues ... just look at the other reviews. Respectfully, hoping for a response and a positive outcome.

The numbers have stopped displaying properly after the 2nd year of ownership. Now the START button after the 3rd year does not function rendering the microwave unusable. Making matters worse is that we bought the matching trim kit which is now unusable as well. Please let us know when you will be sending us a new Microwave which will last longer than 3 YEARS or a REFUND so we can purchase a Microwave that will last longer than 3 YEARS with minimal usage. This product should have been recalled and stopped selling as from previous reviews on your website.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jayman13 from LED display, keypad and microwave not working Microwave and trim package bought for new McKee home Dec 2017 and the LED display stopped working in certain spots about a year ago, but microwave worked fined. Now over the past few months, there is more spots not working with the LED display and microwave will no longer work. It is useless and needs to be replaced, of course this will require complete new unit and trim package. Not impressed with KitchenAid brand and glad all other kitchen appliances are Frigidaire Gallery. Based on all reviews I would not buy this microwave and would seriously think before buying any KitchenAid product. Not impressed should of went with different brand! Model YKCMS1655

The keypad has progressively failed, originally just an issue with the display missing parts of characters and now some buttons not working. The "3" and "timer" buttons no longer work at all and this is extremely disappointing. We purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for our entire kitchen and bar which were installed March of 2018 and to have failure of a microwave in this time with what appears to be a very common problem is disappointing. Hoping that KitchenAid stands by their product here?

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed Customer2021 from Disappointing Microwave This microwave came in our Condo development in Victoria, BC. Buttons 5 and the start buttons stopped working last year. Just as we were going to send it for a replacement within it's one year warranty, magically the buttons start to work. BTW the customer service department you deal with is extremely disappointing as once we thought we could send it, now they want a video of it not working. Now a year and half later same thing, the number 5 and the start button will not work rendering it useless. Honestly I will never buy anything Kitchen Aid going forward. Seeing this model have a 1.4 start review shows you guys have no quality standards in your products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Grick from Horrible experience This microwave came with our presale condo, within one year some buttons stopped working (5&8). We got it replaced with the 1year warranty only to have the same thing happen less than 2 years after replacing. Our start button and our 5 doesn't work. Quite frustrating to have the same microwaves breakdown the same way all in a few years. Microwaves should last longer than this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jred from Touch Pad and numbers stopped working. Do Not Buy. I have owned this microwave for only 2-3 yrs and the Touch Pad has failed after very light use. The Start button and half of the numbers stopped working. No parts available. I was urged not to buy a Kitchen Aid because of the Touchpad failures but I thought I would give it a chance since it matched our other Kitchen Aid appliances. This was a mistake. After complaining to Kitchen Aid they offered me 15% off a new Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid but I have found from reviews both have the same issue. Not impressed and I will likely will be switching brands. I wish Kitchen Aid would offer more knowing how poor this microwave is.

The touchpad and LCD have been failing; at first it was just the “number” buttons, but now the START button does not function, rendering the whole microwave useless, after only 20 months of usage. Online research indicates Kitchen Aid have no replacement parts to address the issue. This means the microwave is a throw-away, after 20 months usage. This product is defective and should not be on the market. Given the consistent message in these reviews, what is Kitchen Aid doing ?
