Description

This KitchenAid® chimney range hood combines sleek style and modern functionality. The perimeter ventilation system efficiently pulls air from the edges of the hood up to a 600 CFM airflow and efficiently clears smoke and odours. Using the Whisper Quiet® system, the wall-mounted range merely produces 1.5 sones at slow speed, allowing you to leave it on even while eating. The electronic glass touch controls make it easy to select one of the 3 venting speeds. The auto-speed setting automatically adjusts the fan speed to protect the cabinets while the sleep mode turns off the fan after 10 minutes of inactivity. The range can easily be converted into an in-line blower installation for a more quiet installation or even into a non-ducted range using a recirculating kit including a charcoal filter (sold separately)

I liked that this model looked more modern than others from KitchenAid because the bottom part is flat and not domed. I got the recirculating kit because it would have been too expensive to vent up to the roof, but so far it's working much better than the fan that was under my old microwave that was over the range. The lights are bright white in front, and pressing the button a second time turns on a softer light in the back that seems like a night light. The highest fan setting is a little loud, but the lowest setting is quiet and works well enough for everything I've cooked so far.

This time around we opted to go with a KitchenAid range hood, to go with the rest of our KitchenAid appliances. It is sleek with clean lines, modern, and easy to clean, although we haven't had to clean the filters out yet, but they are easy to remove and put back. The lights are very nice, especially the night light at the back of the unit, if you just want to leave one light on. The downfall is that it's noisy... and that's on low. So much so, that often my husband just turns it off, which defeats the purchase of having a range hood!

Have a louver at the exit of your vent? Need to remove the louver in the hood. When does the styrofoam need to be removed? Not clear in the instructions, but if you don't remove it before you hang you end up chiseling it out and it turns into popcorn all over the kitchen. Can you hang it up alone? Yes, with many, many attempts and lots of swearing. And lots of finger prints to clean up afterwards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Florida Laura from Just wish I could see the buttons… [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love the look of our range hood and the fan has a reasonable noise level, a huge improvement over our last one for sure! My only complaint is that the buttons are not lit, so if the kitchen is dim (ie: first thing in the morning) and you want the range light on, it is very hard to figure out where to push. One other bit of feedback is that the buttons seem to require several touches before they activate. Could be my fingers but it’s consistent regardless of my body temp (not just of hands are cold)…it is a lovely unit overall!

Lighting for night lite or cooking is fabulous. Only negative is the noise volume when vent comes on. Pretty loud.

I replaced the "fake exhaust hood" that I had for 12 years. All it did was suck in and blow back into the room through a wimpy metal mesh filter. This hood vents outside (yes through the roof as I demanded from my contractor) Actually clears the kitchen of odors. Haven't tried to clear smoke yet... Haven't burned anything on my new Stove.
