5-Element Built-In Cooktop - 36" - Black is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 218.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money; features not usable pros: boils water fast cons: This unit does not have pan adjust, so all pans must be larger ones. No cooking small items unless you use a skillet; Melt function useless, as cannot use a small pan to melt chocolate, butter, etc., since must be larger pan. Constantly beeps at you if anything on cook-top - so not good for placing items out of the oven, storage of pans, etc. Old stove was old-fashioned coil electric and much better for cooking, except for boiling water. If you get this type of cook-top, 30 inch is probably fine and get it with pan adjust feature. Do not plan to put it near oven as place to put hot items. I very much regret this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small pots won't work I've been cooking on this cooktop for about 2 years now. I picked up a fairly inexpensive set of pans when I got it and never had a problem. I recently decided to upgrade my pans to non-stick. I bought the Cuisinart set that came with a 8" skillet and a 1 qt. pot neither of which worked. After going back and forth with Cuisinart and getting nowhere, I bought a set of All-Clad. This set came with a 2 qt. pot that won't work with the cooktop. I have since found several reviews stating the same problem with this cooktop. Sure would be nice if the Kitchen-Aide team could come up with a solution. Yes, I would recommend this cooktop to a friend, but with reservations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric Induction - the way to go When we remodeled our kitchen 10 years ago I bought all GE appliances...except for the cooktop because none of the other brands could be installed over a built in-oven. Kitchenaid could. I really loved the flat cook-top. The touch controls were also part of the cooktop to--no buttons, no anything to collect grease, etc. Even when it was dirty it looked clean!! However...after 10 years a part "blew out"; a part, of course, that is not longer available so I am "forced" to buy a new cooktop. Once again, the only one that I found that goes over a built in oven was a Kitchenaid, but Lowes has a great prices and it will work. Coming from an "older generation" I would hope to get a longer service time for an appliance, but it seems everything is built to wear out in x-number of years so I'm not totally upset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Sleek, Stylish, Performer We recently did a complete kitchen reno and went with all KitchenAid appliances. We have never had an induction cooktop but we love it. Aside from the sleek and stylish look it presents, it performs extremely well. Boiling water in a minute using the Boost feature. Excellent fried eggs. Incredible heat control. The timer can be set for a single burner to shut off when set. It's extremely easy to clean. The large center element is large enough to handle even our 10 qt. pot. We purchased the Emeril by All-Clad E914SC PRO-CLAD Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe PFOA Free 12 piece Cookware Set and it performs very well on this cooktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 star all the way around This cooktop replaced a 25 year old GE Induction cooktop. I've always been one to embrace new technology and I've been cooking for over 40 years. I've used gas (yuk) electric and induction. Induction is the only way to go. Fast and much cooler for those of us living in the warmer parts of the U.S. where we thrive on A/C. This doesn't heat up the kitchen the way conventional cooktops do. I've read so many reviews, most of which aren't kind to induction. These people have not understood, you cannot take cookware you've used on gas or even other electrics and bring them onto an induction cooktop. Gas warps pans and so does coil electrics. If you're using a pan that uses an encapsulated bottom and hand wash these puppies, expect popping noises from them. Water gets in between those surfaces and when it expands, it has to go somewhere and steam will pop. This new Kitchenaid is so much faster than even my old GE. The "slide" feature on the heat selector is one big factor that had me chose Kitchenaid. The Electrolux has this feature too. Let me explain. Some cooktops you select the burner then have to push a + or - to increase or reduce heat. With the "slide" on the Kitchenaid or the "wave" on the Electrolux, you are able to jump to where ever you need to go. My GE had 3 quick settings: L M H. With this slide, after choosing the burner, I can jump to Hi if I want to or touch it in the center to get a medium heat setting of 5. This top has about 19 or so heat settings including a simmer and melt feature. You're able to keep food warm without over cooking. Love this top. It can boil water in seconds not minutes with it's power boost feature. This top also has TWO sets of bridge elements. No other manufacturer has this. These tops are made by Whirlpool corporation and also market under the Jenn Air and Whirlpool nameplate. Try induction, you'll never go back to your old cooktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this cook top We thought we wanted gas but with you g kids building our dream kitchen changed slightly. However I have no regrets buying this cooktop. Nothing burns on to it like electric cook tops. I don’t have to remove grills and clean little parts like I would if I had gas and my kids can’t turn it on if it’s locked. But even if they do it won’t do anything unless there is a pot on the cooktop. This gives us peace of mind! Now as for cooking I have no regrets getting this over gas. It heats up so quickly. We love it. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! It does everything an induction cooktop should do and does it well. Boils water in a snap, cools instantly, maintains its temperature when cooking. My only complaints are these: it beeps at you if you (1) leave a pot, utensil or other item on top of it after you turn off the heat; (2) if you lift your pot off the heating element, for example, to toss mushrooms during cooking; and (3) after you turn it off, I guess to remind you it's still hot. So it has a personality, which is something new for me. I am not used to appliances beeping at me except to tell me the timer I set is done. Other than that, it's a great product. Also very easy to clean the glass cooktop.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best thing ever We furnished our new home with all KitchenAid products because we have had good results with our other KitchenAid products. However, our new 36" induction cook top has failed to live up to expectations. It is now four months old and has had several malfunctions but has been usable. Service has been a problem. Also, we planned on using the Bridge function which now we can not use because no one makes a grill/griddle for the induction top. We can find cast iron grill/griddles but they are heavy and course and will scratch the glass top so we will not use them. One reviewer stated that the induction will boil water fast. Well try to boil two pans of water and the cook top may quit on you. Disappointed with cook top, accessories and service.
