KitchenAid Electric Induction Cooktop - 30-in - Stainless Steel is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 263.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst cooktop ever We keep getting the F47 error and thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty as they have been out here five times. We purchased Dec 2015 and the problem seems to be when you use the boost function it blows out the two burners on the left side and you are left with two small burners until they can get the parts in. The last time they came Oct 31 2017 and Jan 25 2018 they brought the parts, repaired it and while testing it it blew out again. Today is Feb 5 2018 and I am still waiting to hear what Warrantec, the extended warranty company is going to do about it. If you buy it better make sure you get the extended warranty as you will need it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Induction is amazing Having always been partial to gas cooktops, I was very skeptical about anything resembling an electric top (in my eyes anyway). As we didn't have gas hook ups in our new place, i was bracing for non-performance. But as i watched a pot of water get to boiling in such a short time, i became a fan. Induction is amazing! Not only did it get to boiling quickly, you could visibly and almost instantly see the water react to any changes to the level controls. I am a bit daunted by the many care instructions. While I intend to care for my cooktop, I hope the warnings are merely extreme precautions and that standard common sense will do well enough for the life span of the cooktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad we bought the cooktop When shopping to replace our failed Jenn air cooktop, we were considering all of the leading brands-- GE, Bosch, Jenn air, and Kenmore. I read the reviews of many models within these brands, and found reviewers complaining of problems for all these brands. The leading problem was cookware compatibility. I went to cookware sites like WS, and read what readers shared regarding compatibility of various brands. I saw the fewest issues with kitchen aid. I was a little leery about buying another kitchen aid appliance, given the bad luck I had with one of their refrigerators. We've had the cooktop for a few months now and are very happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disappointed We bought this cooktop almost 3 years ago and it just broke down for the 4rth time. Once it broke down when the technician replaced the motherboard and he switched it on himself to check it out. For over half a year I tried avoid to use the bigger burner because that one always causes the problem (I used it a few times on 4 didn't dare to go higher). But you buy it to use it and since we had guests over for dinner last WE , I needed that burner. I switched it on 8 and within 1 minute I heard a loud bang and there I was stuck again with 2 burners out of 4. I am very disappointed in this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The first time we used the PowerBoost with the large burner we received an F47 code and the 2 right burners were inoperable. Dealing with customer service was unacceptable. Wait times on the phone were extremely long (over an hour); agents couldn't provide an ETA for replacement parts and wouldn't try to find an alternative solution to resolve the issue. Approximately 8 weeks later a new part was installed. Immediately upon using the PowerBoost on the large burner the same thing happened. Now 5 weeks later a replacement is on the way. Hoping that the same issue doesn't happen again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second Thoughts Thinking of buying a Whirlpool branded (Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air) induction cooktops – or any Whirlpool appliance for that matter? Before you do, read about our experience with KitchenAid. Our brand new induction cooktop will be out of service for a month. KitchenAid Induction Cooktop Model #KICU509XSS-00; Serial #XP42511052 9/23/14 – Installed. We instantly prefer induction cooking to our old electric cooktop. 10/10/14 – Our new KitchenAid induction cooktop failed on Friday night as pasta was boiling on the 11” burner. Understandably, KitchenAid customer service was not available until Monday morning. 10/13/14 – On Monday morning KitchenAid gave me the names of two warranty service companies in our area. The first company declined to service KitchenAid induction cooktops. The second company, Authorized Appliance, scheduled an appointment. 10/16/14 – Authorized Appliance, disassembled and tested the cooktop, and then called KitchenAid. KitchenAid’s tech support rep, Dave, advised the Authorized Appliance repair person that the main power board was defective. The part was ordered. 10/21/14 – Authorized Appliance returned to install the new main power board. The cooktop did not function after the new power board was installed. Authorized Appliance called KitchenAid tech support to report that the replacement power board did not resolve the problem. KitchenAid techs Bob and Rob advised that the two controller boards would then need to be replaced. The parts were ordered. 10/23/14 – Authorized Appliance called to advise that the two controller boards were not stocked by KitchenAid parts distributors and could take ten days or more to arrive. 10/23/14 – I called KitchenAid and spoke to Tory at Benton Harbor. I explained that our four-week old induction cooktop had already been out of service for two weeks and we faced the prospect of two more weeks without it. Tori looked up the required parts and confirmed that they were non-stock parts and would take 7-10 days to ship. I suggested that it was unreasonable for KitchenAid to expect us to be without a cooktop for a month and that KitchenAid should immediately replace it. Tori was sympathetic with our problem, but was not empowered to help. She transferred me to her supervisor, James Kuhn. Mr. Kuhn advised that replacing the defective cooktop was not an option, despite the unavailability of parts. I inquired whether Mr. Kuhn thought it was reasonable customer service for a brand new cooktop to be out of service for a month. Mr. Kuhn agreed that it was not necessarily reasonable customer service. However, he explained that only the ‘engineers’ could authorize replacement of a cooktop. Mr. Kuhn further explained that the engineers would not authorize a replacement until all repair options were exhausted, regardless of how long the cooktop was out of service. I requested to speak to either Mr. Kuhn’s supervisor or a KitchenAid senior engineer. Mr. Kuhn denied my request, explaining that KitchenAid customers were not allowed to speak to engineers or senior managers!! Now we wait, and wait, and wait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast heating and fine heat control We have had the induction cooktop for about 5 months and have been super pleased with it. Easy cleanup - nothing gets cooked onto the surface as with a traditional resistance element. VERY fast to heat the contents of a pan and the heat control is predictable, instant and very fine grained. Easy to use, love the "simmer" feature. Make sure you obtain the glue for mounting the install rails to a solid surface countertop, it isn't included with the cooktop. Fairly easy to install but you need to pay attention to get the height right so the cooktop is supported by the rails underneath and NOT by the glass.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product and poor customer service [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I purchased this cooktop I really enjoyed cooking with it until the right two burners (elements) just stopped working in the middle of cooking. I called to Kitchenaid and they would replace the part at no cost but I had to pay for the cost of service repair. Which is not cheap. About 6 months later the same thing happened again. I called to Kitchenaid customer service and was told the same thing. Now if this is going to happen every 6 months or so and I’m going to have to pay $180 for service to have this part fixed...well that’s just crazy! So I asked the representative if there was any other solution due to I checked on the internet and this seems to be an issue with this product. She stated there is nothing she can do for me. So I will be filing a complaint or doing whatever I need to do for this company to stop taking advantage of people when they know this product is faulty! I suggest you do NOT buy!!!!!
