This tool's high-efficiency brushless motor provides more run time and longer motor life - the run time is 40 minutes with the included Kobalt 24 Volt Max 4 Ah battery. This edge cutter is 12 inches wide and features a bump head for better string advance, as well as a straight shaft for more reliability. This string trimmer is compatible with all Kobalt's 24 Volt Max batteries and chargers. This kit includes: string trimmer, handle, guard, dual-line string spool, 4 Ah battery, and 45 W charger. Rated 5 out of 5 by FredS from Light and seems durable I purchased the 24 volt trimmer and the blower with battery and charger included. The trimmer was semi assembled. You need to loosen the 2 factory security hex bolts (T-30) in order to align the 2 holes on the other side of the pole so that you can install the other included hex bolts. The security bit (T-30) has a hole at the tip(see photos). You need to get this before you try to assemble the pole See photos #1 and # 2 for the security bit. Photo #3 loosening the two factory installed bolts until you can align the two holes on the adjacent pole. Then insert the included hex bolts and alternately tightened all 4 bolts.

The pole needs to extend back an additional foot or so behind the handle so the battery becomes an effective counterweight, and both your arms share the weight of the tool. As it is, the front arm caries all the weight, plus the force you have to press down with the rear arm to keep the cutter off the ground. There is no way to modify it after the fact to fix it (yes, I took it apart with that in mind). They need to make and sell a rigid plastic extender that mates with the battery receptacle on one end and the battery on the other.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this 24 volt trimmer because it was a lighter weight than my husband's 40 volt trimmer. 5 pounds versus almost 8 pounds. I'm 65 & my muscles aren't quite like they used to be. This trimmer has been used three times at 30-45 minutes per session. The last session I used the trimmer for 45 minutes with power to spare on the battery. I kept hoping the charge would run out so I could quit. It cuts the grass very well, the string lasts & I have not had to add string to the spool. We have a large area to trim with the house, barns, flower areas, trees & woods. I think this will be a good trimmer for me. My husband, at 72, may decide to use my trimmer for a break.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using cordless weedeaters for as long as they have made them....My old black and decker 18 volt finally gave out so thought I would try something with a little more power so I purchased this Kobalt 24 Volt~~~~~I absolutely hate this weedeater. Very poor design....... It is fairly light weight but the pole does not telescope so I have to crank my arm way back to hold it and which causes my shoulder to ache after about 5 minutes. Definitely NOT ergonomically designed. Constantly have to tap it for more string. I am returning it. I have already ordered my new Black and Decker 40 Volt Max WITH a telescoping pole.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Joe22222 from Lightweight reasonable value with a few cons Pros: uses the same battery as my other tool set and I've liked those for my needs. Reasonable price. Fairly lightweight compared to some other tools. Cons: Really blew through the initial spool in a half hour of use so maybe I needed a bigger machine - not sure. Battery power was fine though! The spool isn't the most fun to take apart if you don't know how it works. Reading the manual helped figure that out. The guard is maybe a little small - I'm not sure though. Many people don't like how the bolts that hold the handle together are a bit off. They were off but if you just take your time it fit just fine so not really a concern maybe more feedback if they were able to improve that in the manufacturing process.

I have the full ecosystem of Kobalt 24v tools now and I love them all, except this trimmer. I live on a corner lot with a sidewalk plus 600 feet of cement curbing, so I've got a lot of trimming to do. The 4Ah battery lasts the entire yard, but the joy stops there. This trimmer is awkward to hold, difficult to load, and eats string like it's going out of style. I need two full spools to finish my yard and removing the old spool requires a flat top screwdriver or other prying tool. Sometimes, the twine gets caught up inside and you have to remove and correct it. At the end of the day it's just a constant fight. I plan to purchase something else.

Start switch very hard to make release / pull in unless you hold shaft vertical them it releases more than it catches. (Backside safety of course must be depressed but when it is i had to squeeze trigger hard enough felt like it would break soon. ) Ran several quick trials to learn the vertical trick but no way am i going to keep this tool. Nice looking unit, ran once it released — if you want a weedeater Stick with a manufacturer that makes weedeaters.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Brizzy from Almost perfect Bought this today and used it right away on 5/16/21. This thing is legit absolutely will take care of what you would need and I am very impressed. The 2 star rating though is what everyone else complains about is the line feed issue. It’s a double feed line and one snapped off right away so I was cutting with one line. I had to pull that line out and now both are running so short I have to be touching what I’m trimming with the weed whacked. If kobalt fixes this then they will take over the market %100. I got a cordless black n decker and that’s been the best so far all around. But powrr wise this thing rocks.
