Rated 5 out of 5 by Robbie from Is it worth the cash? Just bought this yesterday on my way home from work and used it today. First impressions. Feels sturdy. All the weight feels like it's on the battery still light and easy to use. No issues tapping it to reel out more string. I used this on speed 2 because my grass is thick and 4 inches high. This weed eater had no problems cutting it down. Battery from full charge lasted 45 to 50 minutes. Speed1 could have done the job however it would have taken longer. Next weekend should be easier and faster to cut. My only issue is when you pull the trigger it takes about 5 seconds to do anything. Only question is how long will it last? And only time can answer that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JTMiddle from Grass and weeds beware This is my 2nd purchase- first was in 2014 but sold it due to moving and not needing it anymore. Person I sold it to still using it to this day no issue. I just purchased and used the newest 40v model and it performs very well. I had to use it as an edger to clean up the terrible yard I acquired- ate up the grass, dirt and weeds like it was nothing. People complaining either don’t know how to use it or are too rough with it. This 6’4” heavy weight person had no issues-take your time, treat it well and this piece of equipment will make your yard look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JTE07 from Works good, battery gets tired fast Bought this to replace a corded model that continually fed out string and this one works great with the controlled release of string. I no longer use four reels of string with this one, in fact one roll will last for two rounds of my yard. Only item I found as a potential negative is that when using it on high speed the battery drains very quick and I'd only get about halfway through my yard before it dies. So I now do my entire yard on the lower speed and it will just make it through. I do have a half acre yard that is fully fenced, so that is quite a lot of linear footage to trim.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Banegerous from Good Machine I like that the machine has two speeds and at the flip of a switch you can generate that extra power you need for stubborn weeds. This is my second 40v Max product (Own a mower as well) so I like the fact that I can change out the battery and go with no problems. The one thing that I didn't like is that it seems the battery gets a bit hot while using and it seems to take 15 mins to cool enough to recharge. The first time the battery wouldn't recharge had me a little concerned that my battery was going bad, but taking that battery into the shade and letting it cool off before recharging seems to fix this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Frnkdatank from Really packs a punch! I was hesitant to make purchase on battery weedeater. My gas trimmer went out and was going to cost an arm and a leg to fix. I purchased this trimmer and it was worth it. I charged the battery and took care of some stubborn weeds with ease. I enjoy the fact that i can trim weeds early without being that loud neighbor at the crack of dawn. I didn't find it heavy at all (maybe because i workout every other day not sure). I really like the power on this thing and that weeds don't wrap around the shaft. It has two settings for speed but i only had to use the lowest one and had 3 bars of charge left. Awesome!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Steve from I purchased this unit about a year ago. It worked well for a couple of weeks, but started having problems consistantly with the bump and feed feature. It just stopped working. I have to manually release more line which is quite frequently. Also, this unit is very hard to wind new line on the spool. I have had many other brands of weed eaters in my many years of lawn work, (I'm 68 years young) and this by far the worst weed eater that I have ever owned. I should mention that I have a Kobalt leaf blower and a hedge trimmer that work great! Maybe I got a Lemon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steve from . Replaced a corded weed eater. Besides the obvious freedom from being tethered to an outlet, I like the balance of the cordless model. The way it’s designed makes it almost effortless to hold. No strain on the muscles. The Kobalt model also makes it easy to hover or ride over the ground and get a consistent close trim - without damaging the grass by cutting too low. Kobalt also provided a higher amperage battery - nice to be able to cut a large area and have plenty of life left.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dplamo from Good for very small jobs The trimmer is lightweight and sturdy. When I bought it I wanted to do a medium sized job for a short term. I have had the trimmer for a year and have used it in a variety of applications and purxhased a spare battery. For small jobs where you have lots of time this tool is a good choice. For larger jobs where speed and torque are required, the tool will let you down. The cutting is frustratingly slow and the motor will stop when challenged by tough weeds. The battery life is much less than suggested. If you are used to a high torque aggressive trimmer this tool will be a disappointment
