This Kobalt corded electric chainsaw has a powerful 12-amp, 1.9 horsepower motor that easily handles small tree cutting and limb cutting on larger trees. The chainsaw features a tool-less chain tensioning system that allows you to make adjustments with ease. I am looking for a replacement chain for my 16 inch electric saw. It appears to be an Oregon chain, but can't find the proper number. Do I need pitch, tooth size, etc? I found these 2 numbers #31202403 and 91PJ056X. What else do I need. Cheers!

You just need the bar length, pitch and gauge of chain . So 16" and 3/8" gauge and not sure of the pitch of that saw chain though. I ended up buying the 16 inch electric Kobalt chainsaw but they were out of stock so i took  the store demo, no manual. Can you tell me about how much and what kind of oil to put in the oil reservoir

Use chainsaw bar oil. Any brand will do. There are usually 2 weights of bar oil, Summer and Winter. Summer oil is thicker and Winter oil is thinner. That's it. You will also need a couple chainsaw files to resharpen the chain from time to time. If you see it cutting smallish sawdust then it's time to resharpen to send chips flying again. I think its a 3/8" size chain. Good luck and wear your PPE.

It is my understanding that the chainsaw listed here is electric 110V plug-in, and not battery powered. In the question and answer bellow, there is reference to the added weight of a battery pack. Please provide clarification.Thank you

Yes, that particular chainsaw is electric 110V plug-in only. It does not have an option to work from battery pack.

I have a relatively new Kobalt Electric Chainsaw model 2001203; used it a bit to cut cedar trees and branches of a tree. Suddenly the saw does not start when pushing both buttons. It is lubricated normally; bar and chain are clean. What is the problem?

Can you put a 12 inch bar, and chain on a 16 in chainsaw. Instead of buying two chainsaws, would like to know if this is possible

Hello there, Yes you can use a 12 inch bar on a 16 inch chainsaw. You can use smaller bars on chainsaws, but you cannot use larger bars (i.e. 18in bar on 12 in chainsaw).

Where is the serial number located on this chainsaw?

Hello there, the serial number would be located on the Kobalt Danger/Warning label in a white strip starting with 3 letter, followed by seven digits and a date code. This label would be on top the motor.

I tried electric because my odd jobs are usually small. First time I used this saw I cut 5 tree's, about 10-12" diameter trunks and 30 foot tall. This saw didnt skip a beat, cut up the main trunk like it was nothing and all of the branches into manageable sizes. Having an extension cord wasnt much of a hassle as the work was on my property. Chain that it came with still seems perfectly fine, setup and adjustment was easy, barely uses any bar oil, I propbably used 400ml cutting these trees. To be honest I want to buy another before they raise the price or discontinue it

Rated 5 out of 5 by Canadian MM from Good value I bought this saw about a month ago to clear some large branches (2-6” dia) and also to cut a couple of 10”-12” dia tree stumps to ground level (one was cherry and the other oak). Did a great job on both. Taking the chain off to inspect and clean afterwards was straight forward and putting things back to gether and getting correct tension on the chain was easy.
