Rated 2 out of 5 by BTPiii from Poor design This is a cheap product and shows it. The method of fastening the unit to the toilet is poorly designed and will not secure the toilet securely. Getting the seat to center properly is a trial and error method. When you think it is centered, you tighten the fasteners and it goes off center. It was impossible to determine the method of securing the toilet seat to the toilet before completely opening the packaging. The seat lid has what appears to be a stable and strong hinge. In addition the size description listed on the box is different from the size description listed on the product description on the shelving description. If I had not completely unpacked this unit, I would have returned it. Price was OK if the design had been better.

Sturdy and Easy to Clean. This new "second generation" toilet seat is not as nice as the old one. I have a feeling Kohler has changed the OEM supplier and the quality is not that good anymore. However, the plus side is the price is half now. 7 years ago, I paid almost $50 and now it only costs $25 + tax.

I opted for plastic bc some cleaners damage the finish of the wood seat. I loved the look and thought I had made the right choice until my husband sat on the lid to clip his finger nails. He’s only 185 lbs. and sitting on the lid should NOT be a problem, but the lid slipped sideways ever so slightly and that was the end of the lid. The black plastic screw cracked and there was no way to fix it (see pic). We took off the lid and currently only have the seat portion while i search for a new one. I realize they all have plastic clips and/or screws, but obviously this rolled-look lid design is flawed. I’ll be ordering the wood one today. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by OldEngineer from weak hinges that aren't obvious until install. Just installed... hinges appear to be very weak in design and likely to slip out of retention system. Older hinges on Kohler products from 10 years ago were much more robust with jam nuts that seated properly and were easier to install without tools. It comes with a one year warranty so hanging onto the receipt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Journeyman8 from tired of replacing white painted wooden seats looking for a plastic toilet seat after several years of painted wooden ones that discolor despite using mild spray cleaners. I was concerned it would appear cheap but so far I'm happy with it. Had it one week. I liked the plastic nuts that are conical shaped so they squeeze the bolt as you tight and virtually eliminate any wiggling. Has a cool removeable feature. You can completely remove the seat and hinges and leave only the nut and bolt attached to the bowl. seat clicks on and seems to hold firmly when finished cleaning. time will tell it discolors. seems like a good value for a midpriced seat. check with me in 6 months and maybe I'll upgrade (or lower) my ratings.

Easier to clean than painted wood seats, as I hate germs. When I get tired of it , I will use it as a frame for my ex's photo.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dad from Hardware design is a joke! Just when you thought an engineer couldn't mess up hardware to attached toilet seats...they've really outdone themselves. The "self-centering nut" won't grab the threads. The flange on the seat keep spreading and the adjustable "washer" just smashes itself through the flange. What a joke. I have put new lids on my toilet for 25 years? and found nothing ever wrong with two screws and plastic wingnuts. In fact the ones I removed NEVER ever moved in the last 5 years and are so mind-numbingly simple it hurts. Don't bother with these, because you'll find out like I did after they're all lined up to go on and the boxes are in the garbage that these lids belong there too.
