Description

The Savannah 36-in x 81-in solid wood core storm door features a maintenance-free DuraTech(R) surface for protection against age and the weather. The Screen Away(R) retractable screen offers instant ventilation and hides in a cassette at the top of the door when not in use. Heavy duty weatherstrip keeps drafts out. Brass finish Secure Lock(R) handle set includes matching interior and exterior levers and a built-in security lock system. Bottom expander conforms to uneven sills, and reversa-hinge design makes for right or left mounts. EasyHang(R) installation is fast and easy, offering a no cutting system with mounting rail extenders for an exact fit every time.

I purchased a Larson door just like this almost 10 yrs ago for my front door. I live on a second flr condo in the Orlando, FL area. Installation was not easy but two of us did get it done. The door held up great to our FL storms, even doing battle with several hurricanes! I do recommend a safety chain in windy areas. I never had any swelling, rot, or water intrusion into the door itself. My condo association pressure washes our walkways 3 times a year and this door never failed me after 27 pressure washings + all those storms mentioned! I would recommend a Larsen door anytime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jane from Older one so good I am buying another one. I needed a storm door that had a lot of glass with a screen but with dogs couldn't have a full screen. The old door is on the main door used to come in the house off the side porch. This door has been on the house 13 years and is still looking good. When my wooden screen door to the deck finally got in such bad shade from years of use and many dogs I decided to put another one of these great doors on my back deck door. It is the right height on the bottom that the window gives a great view while still being tough enough to withstand the dogs. The screen gives lots of ventilation in the summer, and will be great saving energy too. I would definitely recommend this door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Treida from Great Storm Door Easy to install, my husband didn't have any troubles. I like that it shuts very quietly. Love the way the screen goes up with the window. A plus that it comes with the handle hardware and can be installed to open left or right. Others didn't like the fact that the door only locks from the inside and you can get locked out if the lever got pushed up, but we haven't had any issues so far. And really it only takes something flat to push the lever in anyway. A major plus is my cat can't destroy the screen. I would highly recommend this storm door to anyone looking for a low cost door that has a lot of features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by klockwerk from Average guy install goes well. Bought Larson 36" storm door/nickel handle/roll away screen (262515) at local Lowe's. It took my wife and I about 4+ hours to install, but we took our time and read the directions thoroughly. Everything went well and I would recommend this door to other weekend handymen. I did caulk everything including all cracks/joints, after reading some of the reviews here. The door looks very nice, seals and fits well on a very slightly crooked door frame. The screen mech is very nice and Larson claims online to have a replacement, in case your screen goes bad. Box said Made In USA, always a plus to me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Joe from Not a Storm Door Terrible, just Terrible. Purchased two of these and both are bad. Good concept but bad exicution. These are not STORM doors. When they are exposed to water the "solid core" swells and the doors crack and the trim around the window breaks. If you have these under a covered poarch they may last but if they are exposed to the elements run away very fast. They're so bad that Lowes and Larson should initiate a recall. I'm heading out today to get a new door (not a Larson) to replace the one that has sagged (Now have a 1/2 in gap at top) and will no longer latch. If I could give zero stars I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sbraz from Great Door! We purchased this door approximately 3 years ago. Installation was realatively easy. We have even installed a pet door on the bottom of the storm door. I am happy to report that we have never had a single problem (not even minor) with leakage or expansion of the core of this door. It faces north and is not covered at all. The screen retract mechanism still works perfectly and the door still works great. I would imagine that either the installation was done improperly on those doors that people report problems with...or perhaps there was a bad run...but I would recommend this door to anyone!

The only part that scared me was I had to drill the holes for the door handle (as I have drilled incorrectly before). The template for drilling the holes was not 100% clear to me. The template had a fold line and it had been previously folded. I wasn't sure if it was factory folded or folded by whomever opened the box before me. I studied the template for a long time and it seemed to me that it did not matter which way it was folded. So I used the template the way it was folded right out of the box and the holes were drilled for a perfect fit. The directions were missing as my box had previously been opened. But I was able to download the directions offline. I like this door a lot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anne from Larson Savannah storm door I have had the door for about a year and a half and I really like it. The opening is wide enough to show your front door but still has a kick plate. the only thing is that when it closes the screen sometimes pops open and drops about 2 inches so that air flows through the screen which isnt great if you want all glass. My door did tend to bang when I closed it though because the piston didnt work well or I had it set wrong. I also like the handle alot. Its nice and has stayed in good condition. All in all I would get the door again.
