Hi Would like to know if this Microwave could install in cabinet with panasonic trim kit ? Mine is broke, thinking to get this as a replacement. Thanks

You will need to remove the internal panasonic brackets and make your own (i made mine out of wood and drilled in some shallow recesses for the microwaves legs to sit in.) Otherwise the outside trim looks good with the LG. There is a little bit of space on the side and top of the microwave compared to the panasonic, which i can live with.

when the door is open how much room does it need at the hinge side, or does it stay flush with the side of the microwave?

we are having to replace our bosch hmb5050 built in microwave, we have a 30in trim kit for it. This microwave is the same dimensions. Wondering were the venting is on this unit and if our trim kit will work

Rated 1 out of 5 by JJayNewton from Much worse than our previous lg microwave ovens [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had this for about 6 months, with I had returned it right away. First you can no longer disable the sounds and this one plays a tune for everything including repeated melodies if you don’t want to take your food out immediately after it has cooked. Very irritating. Next, the supposed great new lighting is not. I can barely see food while it is cooking. Next, the buttons are hard to read without a direct light shining on them. Finally the buttons are hard to press. If you don’t touch them exactly right, your food won’t cook or it won’t stop cooking. Not good features for a supposed “ convenience” item. I wish I had my old LGs back.

When my When the food is done cooking it plays musical tones to let me know it's done, some people don't like this, but I do. It's easy to clean, the interior is gray, and is rounded instead of squared which makes clean-up a breeze. It thaws frozen food evenly without cooking it. My old microwave had more features which I do miss, especially soften butter and warm/thaw bread or rolls. The LG doesn't show the power level that I'm cooking at just how much time is left, it's not a big deal but I do miss that feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ridyen from Unpredictable and cheap made This microwave has a number of problems. First of all the sensor cook and sensor reheat have never worked well. One moment it undercooks things and the next moment it boils or explodes food all over the place. Based on other reviews I was a bit concerned about the door latch and now that issue has occurred as well. The hinge on the door latch is a total piece of junk. Little plastic pivot pin that breaks easily. Could have easily used metal or beefed it up a bit to make it a usable product. The hinge is integrated into the front control panel so once it breaks it means a new control panel or a new microwave.

The curved inside profile is much better than the others we have owned, making cleaning a LOT easier. Our grandchildren now say Grandpa and Gramma have a video game microwave, due to the music that plays during the functions. The door opens and closes so easily, I have to remember and not slam it closed. I do have to get used to the light touch of the controls, since I have hearing loss and cannot hear the tones when activating the controls. I just watch the clock area to see how many times I push the 30 second button. We even like the readout color---not the usual color and a fresh addition.

When it was time to replace our 23+ year old microwave we did a lot of research since our old one was still working, although the exterior was no longer attractive. We decided on this LG microwave and are glad we did. It is large enough for whatever we need, efficient in heating, looks nice, is easy to use, you do not need a college degree in computers to operate it and fits beautifully in our built-in cabinet space. The only caution we would provide is that the trim kit that is suppose to be aligned with this microwave was waaaaay too big for our space. So if you need a trim kit, and it says fits 27" realize that it is every bit of 27" and needs a larger space.

Power level needs to be set by hitting power button first then a number to change level. Whereas, sensor levels need to be set by repeated touch of sensor button after referral to list of options inside door. Touch buttons do not always respond, especially stop button. Burned some popcorn because I was unable to stop cooking. Ridiculous to have to refer to manual to operate a simple microwave.

Excellent design features are 'touch-sensitive' keypad, bright lighting, and cooking/reheating programs. 1) Chamber accommodates large casserole dishes, and turntable rests on a well-designed support. Unlike other microwaves, a central peg of the turntable docks into a port making its centering a non-issue, and the 6-points of contact prevent misplaced vessels from tipping the glass turntable. 2) Cooking and reheating programs are well designed, and the sensor heating settings make it easy to reheat a cup of tea, or lunch/dinner. Not having to set time for this feature is a great design. Just press 1 button to reheat a cup of coffee, a bowl of soup or a few slices of pizza; leaves the guesswork out and does not overheat. We do not use this for cooking dishes, but the sensor cooking feature has made it easy to cook-up a few potatoes. 3) The LED lights are bright. However, their location is perhaps the only thing that I would 'tweak'; consider placing a second set of lights on the left so the light is not obscured when placing hands inside to retrieve dishes, or place the LED lights on the back panel, so that they light the entire chamber uniformly. 4) The tune at the end of a cooking/heating cycle is a nice touch; I prefer it to the loud ring in other microwaves. 5) There is one issue I have always had with microwaves (not this model-but all); why do the doors always open to the left. Is it not possible to attach it to the bottom so that it opens like a toaster-oven. This would allow its placement on a counter to be more flexible. Perhaps, this feature is not possible, but if it were-would be worthy of consideration. Overall, a well-designed microwave with a number of excellent and useful features. Seems to be well built. I cannot comment on how well this unit will hold up over time, but our other LG appliances (Range, DW, Refrigerator, and WD) have held up very well over the last 5 years.

I had no idea that LG replaced that annoying "beep beep beep beep beep" with a charming chime. I would always stand by the microwave to clear it off seconds before the end time. When you live in an apartment, you try to be respectful of your noise with neighbors. I could hear all of their appliances, so I know they could hear mine. What a relief! I can actually do other things and not stand next to the microwave! Yay! Cleaning...OMG! What cleaning?! Freaking awesome. No more scrubbing. I hate cleaning ovens. When I buy my house, I'm buying LG Appliances. And....I love the way it looks!
