Rated 3 out of 5 by eastern shore girl from Wishing for the Good Old Days I just wanted a good old fashioned top loader washer with knobs instead of digital buttons and I wanted to be able to control the water level. After finding only two washers with knobs, both made by Maytag and since Maytag is known for it's quality and Made in the United States, we purchased this one. Unfortunately, it has a digital start button, is noisier than I expected, and it controls how much water it thinks it needs and it LOCKS the lid when you start it. Since it doesn't come with a user manual and the online one doesn't explain anything about the settings to see if there is a way to get a higher water level, I gave it a 3 star rating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Eddy from Inferior washer I am completely disappointed in this washer. It does not clean clothes, cycle for hours, literally hours . Does not appear to actually agitate much at all though the washer locks which not only prevents you from adding forgotten item but also prevents you from seeing the dismal amount of water going in, feel the temp of water (which by feel of hoses is always cold) or see the lack of agitatating which I have to go by sound and sound it appears it barely agitates. This is by far the worst washer I have ever owned and feels like a gimmick or scam the way it prevents you from seeing any of the actual cycling and functioning. Unbelievable how crummy this washer is.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Linny from Hard to activate wash cycle I will call Customer Service tomorrow. Sometimes It works. Sometimes it doesn’t. I had my old washing machine for almost 30 years - it was always dependable, and always worked great. I only decided to replace it because it was starting to rust. This new washer is no bueno. It is noisy and it takes forever. And that is if I am fortunate enough to get it to start. I follow all the instructions- first pressing power, then pressing and holding the start button to activate the series of blue lights to start the process - again - no guarantee that’s gonna happen. I am happy I bought the three year warranty because we are not off to a good start.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Happy Fullman from Quiet spin cycle! Good washer with an agitator. I have had this washing machine about 3 weeks. Two people are in my household. I wash sheets and blankets regularly. The tub is large & the spin cycle really is quiet. There are lots of cycle & rinse options. Ran the 1st cycle immediately upon delivery with empty tub, as recommended. It was very loud with lots of loud clicks. All subsequent cycles were run with laundry. I can hear filling and changing functions throughout the cycle, but no more so than other agitating washers I have owned. Our washer is in a laundryroom next to the kitchen. With the door closed I do not hear it running at all At this time I am very satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Johnny R from If you like clean clothes, do not buy this machine First off, the machine has a strong VOC smell. It is a nuisance if your laundry room is close to your bedroom. Second, the start button is not very sensitive. We had a difficult time getting it to even turn on. It tries to use an inadequate amount of water to clean your clothes. I like to save the environment too, but it still has to do the job. The first wash left my clothes looking dirtier than before they went in the machine. There were black specs and detergent on everything. I had to hand wash everything in the bathtub just to save my clothes. Against my better judgement, I tried a second load and got the same result. Took it back to the store within the 48 hour window and got my money back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by jend1988 from One of Maytag's worst items, So disappointed. This washer is awful, I'm so disappointed. Its soooo noisy, so much clicking, banging & clanging. You cannot run the water before closing the lid, therefore no using detergent cup to swish a little water around once dumping detergent. This has caused numerous loads that I have to rewash due to the color of detergent or scent beads touching the clothing. NO soak option due to this either. No timer, so I had to buy my own so I can at least estimate about when the loads will be done & have something to alert me. The only positive with this washer is the tub size, you can fit a queen comforter in it. Very, very disappointed & regret not doing a return after the first time using.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Unbelievably Disappointed from Buyer Beware! Be on the lookout for used washers! Washer was purchased thinking a brand new item was what I was getting. To my surprise, a used washer was delivered with Fabric Softener in the center cap, dirty soap scum in the center agitator tube, dirt in the water inlets, and water spots on the back cover. Additionally, the washer came out of the box, with no stickers, or an instruction manual. Finally, the water hoses were pre-installed and not newly removed from packaging. Although the Lowe’s Team handled the issue perfectly, be sure to fully inspect your purchase when it arrives so this doesn’t happen to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Terry G from New technology for an old dog I have only used this washing machine a few times, but it works well. At age 91, it's hard to learn new tricks, but this machine is pretty straight forward. My old Maytag lasted about 15 years, so it had earned its keep by the time it broke down. This new "high-efficiency" technology is a bit of a shock to an old school user. It appears to me that it simply washes longer cycles, so that it can use less water. It makes all kinds of strange noises, and the old familiar sound of water splashing about inside as it washes is gone, but the clothes come out clean. That is ultimately the measure of a good appliance. I will report back in another 15 years about its, and my, longevity.
