The 18 V cordless planer is covered by Metabo HPT's lifetime lithium-ion tool warranty. It combines comfort and convenience with fade-free power, lighter weight and longer total battery life that comes from lithium-ion battery power. Available as tool body only, it is compatible with all of Metabo HPT's 18-V lithium-ion slide-type batteries (sold separately). This ergonomic tool is only 7.3 lb and is equipped with a battery charge indicator light that warns when the battery life if getting low to reduce unexpected downtime.

Stand attached on the rear side to prevent the blade from accidental contact with the user when not in use

I have a total of ten 18-volt Metabo cordless power tools. I have a handheld router. I have the 6 1/2 circular saw. I have two impact drivers. One has variable impact functions. One is for everyday use. I have the cordless drill. I have the cordless oscillating tool. I have a cordless shop LED light. I have a cordless handheld blower with a vacuum function. Oh, make that 11 tools. I have the cordless handheld sawsall. Plus I have two battery chargers and four various amp batteries for the different projects.

Where most contractors use a planer to mill a board to a uniform thickness from rough-cut lumber, we have found it useful any so many applications. Such as trimming down trim on one side to allow the trim to sit flush against the wall when a window or door jamb sticks out to far. Just one example of many.

I find myself grabbing this tool more often since it is so easy to use with a battery. While I don't do much framing, I find it to be invaluable for making sure everything is flush at the end. I can see this being a must have for anyone building decks or walls.

Fun to use because it throws wood shavings all over the place, but I had to clean up afterward. Lots of power and speed. Also useful for taking the crown off of a 2x4. It helped make the sheathing install easier.

From either planning down some trim to flushing out lvls or framing material it's never let me down. I highly recommend adding this to any metabo hpt line up that you have.
