Rated 5 out of 5 by TomR from Nice saw! I purchased this saw to improve the accuracy of my cuts when using a saw guide (my trusty 35 year old Craftsman's metal shoe was giving me trouble). The saw was accurate out of the box at 90 & 45 degrees and the beautiful, flat, aluminum shoe was an immediate, 100% improvement. The trigger on the saw requires good force to start the saw, but once started, is easy to hold down- I think its near perfect: No safety switch to mess with, yet not likely to be started by accident. I feels smooth, powerful, and well-made. The levers are metal and tight. A great value for an upgrade saw.

It's not a professional heavy-weight, but for weekend fix-it jobs, it's fine. The one warning, probably restricted to an unknowable production range, is the bag. The bag included in the box is very well-made, superior even, but when taken out of the sealed plastic wrap, it reeks, it stinks, it oozes the odor of dead rodent. Cleanings with various agents made not a dent, and I finally wrapped it in a trashbag and stashed it outdoors. I'm not going to return a decent saw for that reason, but that bag...

Another great feature is the cord holder. It holds cord away from cutting action. Speed and power are good on this saw. Comes with carbide blade and a great carrying case. The rip guide is an option, so pick one up when you buy saw if you use one. Saw is well built. I really like it. Grips are very user friendly. I like the five year warranty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ferris from Solid Worker Well Calibrated [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This saw appears to be a solid workhorse. Compared it to my old standard (Craftsman Industrial); see photo. This saw is a full 3 pounds lighter (10.0 for the Hitachi vs. 13.1 for the Craftsman), plus adds in a couple amps (15 vs. 13) of power. Tested out a crosscut, and it's dead on the cut line tracking with the saw base notch. Also did a 45 degree miter, and it too was accurate compared to my square. Only minor squawk is that the cord is a bit short (six feet vs. nine). Also would have been nice to have the included 24T blade already loaded, but that was easily fixed. I like the hex key vs. socket wrench approach to clamping the blade. Last little nit is that the plug does not have a notch to clamp on the cord, but overall an outstanding saw that should get plenty of use.

This saw is lighter, quieter, smoother, easier to adjust, everything! It cuts smoothly and follows a guide without wandering. It comes with a soft case, which is a benefit, as hard cases take a lot of space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 1954classic from Best 7-1/4" Circular Saw --- "EVER" I purchased this saw about three (3) years ago and have used it on many construction and home improvement projects. The best thing a can say about this tool to get my point across is, "It just want DIE". I am 68 years young and still active in the building business and have used many different, high dollar name, brand circular saws over the years. This one so far is the one that has impressed me the most. Buy with confidence, you will not be disappointed. And while I'm patting Metabo on the back, try their 7-1/4" Thin Kerf Blades for this saw. They are moderately priced but give the same performance as the much more expensive blades that are out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Griffsgarage from Excellent circ saw [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had a couple of months with this saw and I’ve used it quite a bit. It’s ate through everything I put in front of it and hasn’t bound up once. That includes ripping plywood, and cross-cutting 2x4s and 1x4s. I even ripped a 2x4 for giggles and it ate that up too. The included blade isn’t as bad as what you usually get from the factory. The included bag is the best one I’ve gotten so far with a tool purchase across all brands, including the red and yellow brands. They say it’s the best hardcore diy/entry level pro saw out there, and I believe it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kevin from Very good value [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This saw did exactly what I needed; I used it to cut surface boards off my deck and then used it to cut 10 ft long 2x8 boards into sections. Once this saw got going it could not be stopped. Plus it comes with a nice bag to keep your saw in for easy travel. The bag also has a slot for a drill which makes it very easy to add on tools.
