These doors are pre primed and cannot be stained. Sanding them to bare wood is not possible. They are considered to be "paint grade" and can be painted any color. Brush painting is okay, spray is best.

they usually have some cut in the store, just ask someone to help you find it and make sure it is the right side....meaning hinge right side in-swing for example.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JCMs from Smart looking doors Bought three of these doors a month or so ago for my condo I have been renovating. They are all doors off the hallway and they certainly make the space look fancier, rather than the plain flat doors I had before. These are mostly hollow doors with wood fill at top, bottom and along where the door knob/lock set go. The only downfall for me is that I have metal door frames and the place where the wood is to drill the holes for the door knobs didn't quite align where the door knobs/lock set needed to go. There was no option to change the frame and strike plate location. The guy who installed them for me just added a small piece of wood in one of the doors to stabilize the lock and it all worked well. It seemed the location of the extra wood in the door was luck of the drawer - two of the three hit the edge of the wood and worked ok. The third one just had a minor adjustment. Overall I think the cost of the doors was reasonable (they were on special at the time), and I am quite happy with the end result in my condo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CoriJo from Great door I am replacing all the doors in our home. I have installed 5 so far using the Irwin jig to help me to cut the handset holes. Doors go on quite easily. Only had to plane one so far. They paint easily but I find that I need 3 coats of Sico high gloss white to really cover nicely. Using a mini paint roller and brush does a great job. Spend the extra bit and replace your hinges if they are old and mucky or give them a good cleaning before putting old hinges back on.
