My cabinet depth is 11 5/8”.   The minimum depth recommended is 12 “.   Can this be mounted on 11 5/8 “ without modifications?  If need modifications, what is required?

Hi Gitmama, thank you for your question. For the said product, the installation guide specifies 12" (30.5 cm) min and 14" (35.6 cm) max. Unfortunately, there are no modifications suggested. Hope this helps in your decision. Whirlpool Central.

How deep does the cabinet it is installed in have to be?

Hi Justin85, for YWML75011HV, recommended depth for the upper and side cabinetry is 12" (30.5 cm) min. and a 14" (35.6 cm) max. To ensure good performance, do not obstruct top vent airflow. If cabinets are deeper than 14" (35.6 cm) but no more than 15" (38.1cm), use the bump out mounting kit replacing the mounting plate from the wall. The bump out mounting kit (part # W11185746) is not provided but can be purchased. This model also allows you to Install your microwave hood next to a wall if necessary with a 90º hinge door. Our other microwave was a casualty of Irma so when we finally were ready to replace it, we started searching for a low profile model that would be further away from the cook top. This fits the bill perfectly. The stainless option coordinates well with our existing appliances. Since it is deeper than our previous microwave, I love that there is no handle that sticks out and that the controls are hidden behind the door. And, with the additional depth, the exhaust fan will pull heat/steam from all four burners, not just the ones in the back. Bottom line, great design and exactly what we wanted.

Previously I had a microwave on my counter. I always wanted one over the stove but the kitchen cabinets were too low. This microwave solved our problem! There’s plenty of space inside but it is not as tall. The controls are inside so it looks so nice. It has 3 fan settings and 2 led light settings, which I really like. All of the presettings that I’ve tried work perfectly. It also has such a pleasant tone when it has completed its task. Thank you whirlpool for being the smart one to make a microwave that is shorter and so intuitive.

I liked the concept of the slimmer profile to have more space above the stove. Installation was simple. It heats up food a ton better than my old unit which was only 6 years old. It seems to pulse the heat so no more exploding veggies when heating up soup. Its also much quieter than my old microwave. It does stick out further than my old microwave but since its slimmer it feels more hood-like. Also the inside isn't nearly as tall as a conventional microwave but so far I haven't had any issues fitting items in.

It has so many features and settings that there isn't anything that I've tried to warm up that it couldn't figure out! The under-microwave lights and venting work very well for cooking on the oven below. The size capacity is wonderful, especially for it's low profile!! It heats evenly and quickly with no cold spots left in my food. The inside material is very easy to clean but I don't find that my food is splattering as much in this microwave! This is a great buy from a company you can trust! 5 stars! :)

It provides more vertical space to mix larger pots on the back of the range. The vent is very strong, sensing option is perfect. Just be careful with the installation when drilling the correct holes on the wall and at the bottom of the cabinet to have it leveled. The vent hood may be a challange if the exisiting hole on the wall is not aligned with the microwave's vent opening. You need to be creative with the flex tubing rather than the rigid ones. Ours was off by 4 inches on the wall side (horizontal) and 2 inches on the cabinet bottom (inboard/outboard).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family isn’t the tallest, so reaching over a stove to retrieve microwaved items were always a pain. A month ago, we looked into this slim profile to find that the door is about 4 inches further away from the wall than a standard microwave, which was a huge plus for us. One further benefit is the light under the microwave actually shines on the front of the stove! Additionally, we appreciate being able to have more clearance above the range for taller pots. There is no handle, so you must rely on power and technology to open the door. The tallest item we heat up is a syrup bottle, which requires we remove the lid, but such a little inconvenience when you look at all the convenient features!

So when my husband and I saw this combination and all the reviews on it, we knew this was going to be a huge upgrade for us. The install was a little difficult, but only because we have an outdated kitchen and wiring in our home (70's Tri-level), but once it was in, it opened up counter space for us and it looks amazing! The fan can be a little loud on the highest setting, but it doesn't bother us. The power of the fan and unit is awesome, plus the sleek-looking Fingerprint-resistant Black Stainless Steel. Definitely want to get the rest of my appliances from Whirlpool!

The interior is very easy to just wipe clean. The four speed fan is nice and the lowest is very quiet. No handles at all on outside is so nice. Looks very sleek.Just touch the lower right hand corner and the doors opens all by itself. How cook is that? Haven't had a problem with it being a bit smaller inside. Would buy it again and recommend it to anyone who wants an upscale looking and great featured microwave/exhaust fan expecially if you have less space below your cabinets like I do.
